Sorry, I'm new to practicing Astral Projection. I have a problem though. When laying down, I enjoy listening to binaural beats, and do anything to distract myself. While trying to meditate and concentrate on my breathing and self, my mouth seems to make too much saliva. I can't concentrate and have to keep swallowing the saliva because it feels like I'm breathing it in. How do I stop this? It's only when I'm laying down trying to meditate. Anyone have advice? I can't meditate because this over-production of saliva irritates me

 Hello and Welcome!

I had that problem as well when I first began to practice conscious Aping. I rectified it by changing my "focus" target. I found that when I focused on my breathing, that I still had my focus on my physical body instead of focusing "outside" of the body. I needed to just "lose" myself in something that would take my entire physical focus away.

Here's some examples of some focus targets/techniques that may help you. You don't have to do them exactly the way I have explained them. Try them as they are written to start with, but then adapt into your own technique. something you are comfortable with.

That entire Sub-forum is filled with all kinds of great methods as well. Check out the "stickies" there.

I have the same problem.   You can overcome it by not thinking about it.   The more you think about it, the more it happens.   It still happens to me and I have to swallow a few times but after a little while it settles down and I am able to meditate.

hello guys!
I have faced many time the phase of astral projection but i have never got out of my body ..well im not so sure 'cause i think that once i went up to the ceiling of my bedroom (idk if that was a dream or actually happened)
Yesterday, happened again ..i think that something goes wrong with me :/ because when it happened yesterday  i wasnt sleeping on my back but on my left side ..and it was happening every time i fell asleep (3 or 4 times over and over again) until i changed my sleeping position which i dont remember what was it and it stopped ...i gave up on trying to do that cause i cant ..i have trying a lot when it incidentally happened but without succeeding ...i think that once i was going to get out cause i felt myself sinking in the bed but i felt soo scared and i woke up ..since then i never felt sinking again ...what should i do?? Why it happens so often and so many time to me and incidentally (without even sleeping in the position that mostly happens to others)??

Welcome to the Pulse MaryBlue454!

If I understand your problem, you want to project while laying on your back and you are only getting exit symptoms while lying on your left side.

You need to relax your expectations of how an obe SHOULD occur and go with WHAT DOES OCCUR. Go with the flow. If lying on your left side brings on the sinking/floating feeling, then just let it happen.

You also experienced the fear that can happen when you first feel the exit symptoms...this is normal the first few times...it is very exciting and pretty scary when we first realize that an obe is actually starting to happen...but you HAVE to get control of your fear and trust that the experience will be safe and exciting. Too much fear or too much excitement will stop the experience every time until you learn to control it properly.

Trust and let it happen.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

Hey EscapeVelocity!! thank you for replying!
Actually i meant that it happens  and when i sleep at the left side ..while it supposed to happen when you sleep on the back ...anyway ..
the problem is that even if i keep trying to get out of my body i cant ..i try to keep that feeling(sinking) longer and nothing...and sometimes when i keep that sinking feeling longer, trying to get out, i see spirits and i freak out and wake up
so i just gave up ..and it still happens to me ..

Hello Mary and Welcome!

You could AP upside down on your head if you wanted to. Side, back, stomach has nothing to do with it. Releasing your physical focus is all you need to do. That does happen when you sleep. So your goal then is to become consciously aware during that time.

That can come from nightly affirmations, Dream Journals, Daily "etheric" exercises, all kinds of things. When reading or listening to a video you should listen with a open mind, but don't take it "all" at face value. I live by the motto "I believe half of what I hear, but everything I see". This motto is very important when sorting through all the info available on Astral Projection in general.

The spirits you are seeing when you first separate "could" be explained in this thread here. I say could because only you need only to prove it to yourself.

Hello Lumaza!
I ve read the link you sent me but i still have some questions;
Muscles' paralysis is normal for AP?? this is a stage that most peaple stuck  and cant do AP?
And that  is to say that i have to let my self  free and my mind open to get out of my body?
And the spirits i see? They wont harm me?

Muscle paralysis is your brains way of keeping you safe while you sleep and Dream. Otherwise you would be flailing all over the place acting out the actions that you are experiencing in your Dreams.

Most people get stuck at that stage because their fears take over and makes them lose the state that they are currently in.

You can just passively observe it and see what happens or like many do here, passively observe it until you feel it's right to start attempting to exit your body. I never put any effort into climbing out of the body. I just observe what's happening and soon I find myself "out" and on some adventure. SP doesn't happen for me all the time though,  being aware of it that is. For me it's about 3 or 4 times a month now that I awaken in that state. I prefer a simple shift in consciousness from a totally awakened state. This is known as Phasing. More is said about that here:
http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_the_astral_faq/what_is_phasing_and_how_can_i_do_it-t17413.0.html

No, the spirits won't harm you. Offer them a "peace treaty". A cookie usually does the job. You are finding yourself in a area where thought = action instantaneously. So, you must learn to "control" your those thoughts.

I hope this all helps you. Fear is the first thing that "everyone" that APs has to learn to overcome. You overcome it from confronting it head on and understanding, the knowledge of why it's there.
