Being a Mineral

I'm not sure what religion it originated from, but it is a common new age belief, that first you were a mineral, then a vegetable, then an animal and then a human. But how can you ever become a plant? Minerals never die. If you burn them, freeze them, anything, they just change form, you can never completely destroy an atom, so how can a mineral die?

Minerals can become plants. Burn them. Hit them with hammers. Etc... until they are just a pile of random molecules. Mix them with dirt, and plant a seed.

so that would mean the mineral is absorbed into the plant. Does that mean that we are really made of thousands of mineral souls?

If souls are made of atoms, yes, the transfer of atoms would be the transfer of souls.

A mineral would be dead if it had an energy body which has separated from it permanently to become a plant.

When people give attention (and with it, energy) to other living beings it helps them to progress faster.

I knew I'd heard that quote before:
The Sufi Jalal-al-Din Rumi said: "I was a mineral; I died to the world of minerals and became a vegetable; I died to the world of vegetables and became an animal; I died to the world of animals and became a man."

Think long term - creation and dissolution of infinite universes!
I don't know if there is any truth in it though.

It did occur to me today that if someone ate nothing but fruitcake for their whole life, they would be composed almost entirely of fruitcake.

If souls are made of atoms

Many people say souls are made of energy. They can do telekinesis which is kinetic energy.

Its a fact that atoms are made of energy, E = M C^2 / squareRoot(1 - speed^2 / C^2).

So souls should be made of atoms.

If this belief is true(it doesn't have to), then what was before our souls were even minerals?
I think that they belonged to universal consciousness then. It means that "merging with universal consciousness after destruction of ego" is ULTIMATE destruction, no one can be more dead than after such event.
