Back to nature / hermite living

The older I get, the more I feel like completely withdrawing from society and living a simple hermite farmer life.

It always seems impossible for a positive environment to exist where multiple humans cohabite, due to our ego driven animal nature that pushes most people to seek the best spot in the "tribe", to ensure the best success in the everlasting cycle of procreation.

Living in a big city, I always feel so much negative energy around me, from people that get caught up in the illusions of modern life, which ultimately breaks lots of them spiritually.

Having grown up in nature, being able to appreciate it's wonders, while living as self sufficient life is about as good as things get in this plane of existence in my opinion.

What's your take on this?

I live in a small town out in the countryside. I hate cities, having lived a few years on the outskirts of a large town when young, there was still an escape from its 'big and hard ego dribble'.
I like the thought of a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere too.
I'm only 100 yards from open countryside at present on one side on another its 500 yards.
Thats acceptable. :-D
There's far more where the eye can't see.

Hi DreamOn
I agree with you and I would love to be able to get away, and just live life without having to go through all the mundane
daily grinds that keep the systems wheels a turning.
hopefully in the near future I can get some place far enough away from it all. :-)

I hear you DreamOn.

I have lived in San Diego, Houston, Dallas, and Jacksonville. Jacksonville is huge BTW. I coudn't believe how huge it is compared to the other cities. Houston will soon be the third largest city in the US by population but JV is the largest city in the US by sq miles.

Anyways, getting back to nature is always a dream of mine as well. However, I know that I am where I am supposed to be for a reason. I don't know that reason yet but when I do, I'm heading back to Population:1 somewhere.

This day and age, it is almost impossible to not have to rely on someone else but I want to get as close to that as possible. That includes not having a spouse.

I've been on five dates in the last two years and they were all first dates only. I just can't see myself supporting or co-living with someone so stuck in today's culture. I certainly can't imagine raising a child today though I would if the need to arises.

I think I would be a great provider and friend but a poor father. I'm rambling now so I'll end it here.

Just don't feel like you're alone in this. :-)

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

I completely agree, DreamOn.  I try to live as simply and as close to nature as I can.  Difficult to do with a pack-rat husband and daughter whose dream is horse showing, but i do my best.  :)

I live in a family smallish town, but I wish I could live someplace else more isolated than I am right now.

What I hate is the sites that advertise on the Internet and TV trying to hype up that you cannot possibly be happy unless you always are beholden to someone.

Even in High School, I made my mind up about it then - not getting married or living with others and of course parents and teachers gave me the good 'ol "you'll change your mind when you're older." lecture.
