Tom,
I dont know how your brain feels when in these states so unfortunatly i cant comment on that =P

But I am curious to know if you have tried "brainwave generator" program? Did you have any success with it?

Cheers,

Recently I downloaded the brainwave generator program, but have not used it. The settings look helpful, but it is impossible without an EEG to confirm that the brainwaves are actually shifting and being synchronized. It is the same with the audiotapes and CDs I have actually tried.

Low beta at the top of the head at 14 Hz at a point called CZ is supposed to relax all tension from the body. I read it in a book. :)

Hi Tom and all -

Beta rhythm is the Hz of purposeful mental activity (accompanied by stimulus), Theta is characteristic of  light sleep, Alpha rhythm is that of a person who is alert but perhaps daydreaming - letting thoughts flow - "in the zone."  I'm guessing  the trance state that Robert is talking about when he describes deep trance occurs is Theta... Delta is the realm of deep sleep/unconsious... if trance is achieved here than one is likely a yogi!

So, you can sort of identify where you are by your mental activity... hypnopompic/hypmogogic states I am guessing are a mix of alpha and theta.

Anyway - all is based on the control of the person IMHO.

Hope this helps,

Very recently I read that often people have their beta frequencies interrupted by theta waves during ordinary consciousness. In training themselves to avoid theta and to stabilize beta, people can increase their concentration. This was the opposite of what I had expected and it has caused me to doubt my understanding of what beta, alpha, theta, and delta frequencies feel like. The idea of choosing frequencies through various hemispheric synchronization tapes, CDs, and programs is nice but it does not help me to decide how effective they are being. It seems that I have been wrong for some time about this. Maybe I was getting a lot of theta and just calling it alpha or even beta?
