Why couldn't it be?  Think about it for a minute.  There's something about the human body you should know.

You know when a baseball player swings like 3 bats at once?  There's a reason for this.  He's getting his body used to 3 bat's weights and then when he swings just one, he can hit it with WAY more power.

If he hit with a progressively heavier bat every time, then he would see permanent changes.  Same with weights.  When you lift weights, you progressively get better.

So, wearing weights would FORCE your body to get better to move normally.  I'd say after a week or two you'd be completely used to it.  But removing it is the bad thing.  If you remove them, then put them back on, the difference will be known and not much progress would be made.  (Like the baseball player.  He gets better for like 2 minutes.)

So the answer is yes.  Problem is after you DO get better, you gotta get bigger ones :D

The principle of weight training is progressive resistance. That is, you work out with a certain weight and then, after the muscle develops the appropriate strength, you progress up to a greater resistance or weight.

Wearing them on the ankles, waist and wrists will increase the resistance needed for moving the muscles in those areas, and increase strength. However, if your long term goal is to increase strength or muscle mass, why not do a full workout several times a week? Then you can work on the whole body. On the other hand, if you are a runner, the extra muscle mass isn't probably what you want. I guess it depends on what your real long term goal is.

It is actually, in a way, how things were done before weight training.  How ever I would suggest a modification if you were to actually do this.

The idea is not to wear them all the time but to wear them when you are doing certain activities.  The use of the extra weight should specific to a desired out come.  If you want to be able to jump higher or run faster/longer then you would wear them while doing that.  It is not really advisable to wear them 24/7 as there are certain things a person does through the course of a day numerous times.  Adding the extra weight while doing these things would create extra muscle/stregth in areas where it may be of a bigger hinderance than a help

Personally, I have used weight on my ankle and wrist when training martial arts. That was some years ago. I use it when training alone and not when sparring.  Mainly it develop speed, muscle endurance and allow me to move quite fast. Strength may increase but only a little.

However I would recommend caution in using them. Wearing all the time for a few month is not be a good idea. Basic strengthening first is a must. If you're supporting muscle is weak then you might sustain injury while training, especially on the ligament and tendon. Do not overuse, train with extra care. If you're practising kicking especially, please practise proper and safe kicking technique. If you wear them through the day, please do not wear them for too long. And make sure that you don't use them everyday. Some rest day are always a good idea(don't wear weight). I don't know your age but if you're too young like 14 or below please do not use ankle/wrist weight (Sorry but I forgot to see your age in your profile. I use them at the age of 16. At the age of 17 and 18, not too much. Nowadays, I don't use them anymore. I don't even train [:I].

They increase my movement speed, and arm strike. The leg also feels much lighter and faster but I don't train much my leg as I prefer to use my arm more.  Beside, I'm too lazy too practise kicking, and strectching. If you're using them for martial arts, remember to train without weight to be accustomed to your increase in speed. I usually remove them at some point (It was very exhausting training that I subject myself to) and continue training without them for a while.

I use it for some time, then I don't use them anymore as practising using them can be quite a mess (the one I bought tends to leak so I don't use them anymore). However, the speed seems to stay for me eventhough I no longer use weight. When you've already out grow them, just continue training, but without weight. You could wear them occassionally, (with caution) if you want. There are some limit to the increase in speed by using ankle or wrist weight. But don't worry, you'll find other way to increase your speed.

is it possible to lets say wear patted wieghts around your ankles and wrists and maybe around your waist (if they have those kind) and train and run and jump up and down a few hundered times just basically wear them like you wear socks and take them off after a couple months (of course the ocassional take off when sleeping and showering adn what not) and jump higher and move faster

sorry i had to make it wordy
