Title: Does a mod need to be an expert
Post by: NoY on December 12, 2010, 20:12:34
Does a mod of astral Pulse need to be an expert in astral projection
or is common sense enough

They moderate us and censor our posts and delete things they don't agree with
but what qualification do they have that the rest of us do not?

are we happy having people "in power" that don't necessarily represent the best of us

What are your thoughts

Mods should certainly be very active in the forum, but the moderator's primary job is just "paperwork".

Whether or not a mod abuses those powers is a different story.

But I guess it depends on what you feel the role of a moderator is.

Believe me - ive been through all this on so many forums, especially here on Astralpulse. So forget about it, whos in power - is in power and most of the times power is abused. Power is known to corrupt the human mind.

And no I dont think an administrator needs to be an expert in the subjects, however i'd be glad if Mr. Xanth would restrain himself yet a little more.

In the end it all boils down to respecting each other.

And above all, never, NEVER engage in arguments.

Free-will is a divine law and the fact that most humans dont follow it just goes on to show how immature they are. You can pity them. They have a long way in spiritual development.

  I love STNG and I just saw that very episode a couple weeks ago.

I don't think a moderator who thinks he is a teacher, guru or mentor should be a moderator, especially if they do not have the experience necessary.  But it's great to have moderators that are experienced and it's great to have moderators who are around a lot with or without experience.

Basically a moderator keeps the forum running smoothly and yes deletes, or moves threads to their appropriate forum and sometimes should act like a buffer between people when disagreements pop up.

Pretty much.
Sorry guys, but this is:

1. against the AUP
and
2. not relevant

I do encourage anyone who has an issue with this.. or an issue with any of the moderators and how they perform their duties to PM Adrian directly.

Thanks.

For myself, the main goal as mod is to moderate the forum and keep it running smooth. When I talk about AP and give advice, I feel it's as a member who's equal with others here, not a mod who is above anyone else.
