Title: Energy Sub Forum
Post by: Aries on January 09, 2004, 07:31:12
Just because it has to do with energy doesnt mean its a "DBZ forum"

DBZ has alot to do with energy but so what....

It is possible to have a discussion about energy without bringing DBZ into it...

there's a reason it's called dbz'ism aries, and it's not because people neccessarily relate directly to dbz. it's because dbz exaggerates what is possible far beyond the limits of what humans can do, and yet many children still think that the things portrayed on dbz (and similar anime) are possible when NOT ONE of the people who believe such things have been able to replicate even a single of those exaggerated techniques. (and for reference, i've seen a lot of people who have admitted they were dbz'er types, and then they grew up (physically, ie aged 18, 19, etc) and understood that there is a difference between reality and fantasy and that rad-ki is (at least mostly) fantasy)

as well, if such things as energy blasts and whatnot were possible, don't you think some of the more advanced practicioners would be able to do them? and yet none can.... gee, i wonder why (well, actually i don't ^_^ ). the reason people are labelled dbz'ers is because they believe something is possible (and easy to achieve, no less) when they've never met anyone who could *actually* do these things.

and finally, many of the same children who believe these things use words and ideas from video games and cartoons to portray their ideas, furthering the understanding that these kids are deluding themselves with fantasy rather than reality.

sure, real energy practicioners can do some things that are usually regulated to fairy tales by society (weather manipulation, astral projection, fighting with evil spirits, cleansing possessions, telepathy, etc), but that doesn't mean that "anything is possible".

Karrarot, that was the best way I have seen the problem explained!  Thank you very much indeed. [:D]

Adrian tried to open up the forums for DBZ, and it went downhill, thus giving him have no choice but to delete the forum, that was running amuck.  I can't speak for Adrian, but I don't think we will be opening up another DBZ forum.

Thanks once again Karrarot, for your great post!

Nay.

Yeah kakkarot excellent explanation.

I think the main problem with the energy sub forum is that dbzers would type in "ki balls" and "power levels" and such in a search engine and find posts by other dbzers... so it might be better without it.
But, it also gives DBZers a place to talk without disturbing serious practitioners.

If it was up to myself i'd just delete all the pointless DBZer posts and be done with it... but then they'd all get pissy like when the "rise to action" one got locked.

Oh well... 'twas just an idea.

I think it might be a good idea to re-open the DBZer forum.

Alot of the topics and posters that would be in there are seeming to cause quite some distress and annoyance in the serious forums.
It would give moderators some place to send nonsense posts of dbzers and alike boosting their egos and talking rubbish.

These serious forums just seemed to have gone quite bad when the Energy sub forum was closed.

Just my oppinion.
