Everyone should take at least a small moment in every day to enjoy being alive. Sometimes it can be as simple as relaxing while you drink your cup of coffee in the morning, to going out and experiencing something exciting and brand new. Many of us here are trying to make accomplishments in the "non-physical", but the physical is just as important. Having a balanced life in all areas and attempting to succeed in all areas will make you more confident and realization of goals more achievable, both physical and non-physical.
I try to find new stuff to experience quite often, but am also guilty of getting into a routine and schedule because it's comfortable. But sometimes you just have to force yourself break your mold every once in a while. I like to take a vacation to somewhere I've never been at least once a year. It's a general rule, as I don't always pull it off. (I am heading to Seattle this weekend though... never been there before. Yay!)
So what do you do (physically) to break the routine and catch a glimpse of the beauty behind the madness? Or the beauty in the madness?
I'm a sucker for the sky. Day or night, cloudy or clear. I love stars, clouds, the expanse and the mystery, the sheer size. Love it.
Good call Stookie. I call it mindfulness and I try as often as possible to just stop and be here now.
I think we all have our ups and downs. We all develop in some kind of way. :)

Lately I have found myself in the garden, under the sky, enjoying my thoughts in relation to everything. That is so insane!
I look for the magic in the madness.
Love you all.
I find that sometimes even the things you do to bring you in the moment can become routine. Sometimes my way of being mindful is switching up my routine, getting up at a different time, cooking and eating a different breakfast, doing new/different exercises during a workout, refusing to get on the internet all day, etc.
I think technology is dragging us more and more into routines that don't allow us to think creatively. Or think at all. It delivers our entertainment and communication with others, and basically hands us everything with little effort. We're closer and closer to becoming robots that aren't conscious of the routines they are in. They are programmed to do what they do. Enjoyment doesn't come from the little things in life, like looking at the sky, but from anticipating an e-mail or text or phone call.
Rudolf Steiner warned of this. He talked about forces that are seeping into our lives through materialism and technology, and how it would increase very fast, keeping many from finding what they are here for, clouded in an illusion mistaken for truth. He spoke about it 100 years ago, but his prediction of things to come seem to be where we are headed.
I'm not saying technology is bad or evil... it's a tool. But when we start giving up our intention of how we live and let things dictate it for us, we've strayed from our humanity and essence. I think it's very important to take the time to consciously observe the beauty in life on a daily basis. Not just google it.
(I know I'm just sort of rambling, I don't even know where I'm going with this, I just felt it so I posted it).
i'm reading knowledge of the higher worlds right now as per your suggestion some time ago.
i heard this comedian on one of the late night shows the other day, might have been an old conan. anyway, he had a joke that said google on cell phones is ruining humanity because we're not forced to wonder anymore. anytime we want to know something we just bust out the phone and we know, there's no time to feel that longing to know an answer. he said knowing something and not knowing something feels the same now, so nothing has any magic or wonder anymore. it was a joke, but it was a great point. i found it to be pretty profound when he explained his point.
This is a good thread. Have you read any books by Robert Anton Wilson or Christopher Hyatt? "Cosmic Trigger I: Final Secret of the Illuminati" and "Undoing yourself" both advocate creating a rich world for yourself by doing different things. Anything to break routine. Sometimes great power lies in the distinctions that you get when your brain is used in ways that it's not used to.

That's interesting PR, I've found all that information at my fingertips to be rather stimulating (of course, it can be too much of a good thing) and always leads in new directions. The last year in particular has really opened my mind. Go ahead and call me just another UFO observer / conspiracy theorist / believer in ghosts. I used to dismiss 95% of that stuff as pure BS. I still consider myself rational, but less of a skeptic.
But anyway, although wading through all the conflicting information can take time, it's ultimately a good exercise. Personally, my 'instant answer' is rarely absolute, instead leading to more questions!
And I should take another look at Steiner. My daughter attended Waldorf school for ten years and while I supported his educational theories, I privately snickered at the spiritual stuff. :-P
Now here I am, trying astral projection. One never quite catches up, eh?

Just because the bulk of humanity is so dulled to the subtle world, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
