Pole Shift????!!!!!

I have read and watched shows about this (scientific sources). It seems that there is scientific evidence that this will happen and has happened in the past. I have no idea when it will happen, and neither does the scientific community. It seems to really be anyone's guess. I have heard it could happen soon or it might be hundreds or thousands of years.

I have also come across a programme or two plus some articles. The London Sunday times had a piece a few months ago where it was said that some areas of the world were already seeing a reduction of the field, this looked to be local changes which suggested that some instability is occuring in the field generator. From a recent TV programme I recall that the swap will take some period of time to complete and that during the swap due to loss of protection from space borne radiation there is likely to be a 40% increase in related cancers.

Holes at Pole signal a big magnetic flip

THE North Pole is on the move. Scientists have found large holes in the Earth's magnetic field, suggesting that the north and south poles are preparing to reverse positions in a magnetic flip.
A period of chaos could be approaching, when compasses no longer point north, migrating animals take the wrong direction and satellites are burnt up by solar radiation.
The holes lie over the South Atlantic and the Arctic. The changes were revealed after detailed data from the Danish Orsted satellite was analysed.

Results were compared with data from earlier satellites.
The speed of the change has surprised scientists. Nils Olsen, of the
Center for Planetary Science in Denmark, one of several centres analysing the data, said the Earth's core appeared to be undergoing dramatic changes. He added:

"This could be the state in which the Earth's geodynamo operates before reversing."
The geodynamo is the way the magnetic field is generated by currents of molten iron flowing around a solid core. Sometimes giant vortices form in the liquid metal and they can change or even reverse the magnetic fields above them.
Olsen's team believes vortices have formed beneath the North Pole and
South Atlantic. If they become powerful enough they could reverse all the other currents, causing the north and south poles to switch places.

Dr Andy Jackson, a specialist in geomagnetism at Leeds University.  said a change was long overdue: 'Such flips normally happen every 500,000 years but it has been 750,000 years since the magnetosphere gives vital protection against searing solar radiation that would otherwise sterilise Earth. Although the magnetic field would probably not disappear altogether, it might weaken while the poles switched, resulting in a surge of radiation that could cause cancers, reduce crops and confuse migrating animals from whales to pigeons.
For scientists the big question is not whether but when the changeover will happen. Some say it could be soon while others say it could be any time in the next 1,000 years.

There was mention of a Pole Shift in the thread "And the Truth shall be known"  A few main voices in that thread seem to be now in contact with the Zeta race and it was brought up in conversation.  I would be interested in seeing where that goes.

I've got to agree with Timeless here.
Sure, a pole shift could happen, could throw the world into chaos, death & destruction will wrack the earth and in the aftermath a new and better world could come into being.

Or you could get run over by a bus tomorrow.

Then again, if it does happen I won't have to keep paying off my mortgage! BRING IT ON!!!

I couldnt Agree more, dont get sucked into the fear and consume cycle. Just concentrate on your own spiritual work, that way, youll be the one with the paddle when everyone else is just up the river...

But the general concencus of the paranoid seems to be that every catastrophy ever, will happen in 2012... Well, that was what the Aliens told them anyway.. or was it the CIA...?

I sometimes see all these predictions and conspiracy claims as a bit of distraction, as is being said here if they happen they happen and we will either have to get on with it or not as the case may be. Sometimes I think that the big conspiracy is 'distraction', anything to stop people really getting to grips with our environs and future.

As to the 2012 date, this one popped into the frame I think following a mayan calendar interpretation. It has proved a convenient next disaster date  followng the failure of the various predictions during the 90s for mass UFO landings a la the 'Centre Of Awareness' organisation claims and Shelden Nidles (Council of nine?) claims etc and of course not forgetting Y2K.

I agree that we should not worry about the future but instead live in the now, for now is all we have.

I did not think WalkingThePath came off as being fearful, only seeking information. But since the fear factor has came up, I wonder if as 2012 approaches if the doomsayers will not become worse than they were as the year 2000 drew near. 2000 was seen as the end of the century and had no true indication of any kind of end or change, but their are references to 2012. It is the doomsayers and fanatics I dread more then the year or any kind of change.

Why does the magnetic field reverse every 500000-750000 years? Why not some other interval or not at all? Why is it a fast change?

What is a giant vortex? How could it change the direction of huge underground liquid metal rivers so fast?

Humans have not gone very far beneath the surface of the planet, not compared to how much there is. So is not everything about Earth's core only theory?
