Title: Excuse me... But do you mind dying ?
Post by: The AlphaOmega on August 31, 2004, 02:34:05
Everyone dies!  To me it makes little difference whether it is 50 years from now, or right now.  The only reason I do not want to die is because I do not want to cause pain and greef to those that care about me.  I consider myself a searcher.  My whole life I have questioned many things religious and spiritual.  To me, dying would be the ultimate adventure, because the questions that plague every one in the world are finally answered.  Honestly, OBE and faith and NDE are all quite reassuring, but no one knows what lies beyond death, untill they die.  It's an absolutely unavoidable inevitability.  We either go on, or we don't.  It's not a matter of some go on, and some don't.  There is one truth after death, and everyone faces it.  So because we each face the same thing, we should all embrace it and find it exciting to face.  Because in the end, we all face it together.  I like living, but can't wait to die.  All curiosities will be satisfied!  I just hope there's more to discover after death!  As Steven Hawking says... "It must be boring to be God and have nothing left to discover".

Lol, That one about Stephen Hawkins its good!

I dont wanna die because i want to proof myself (with obes...i never had one) that there is life after death. Even so i will not die because i feel and i know that there is something to do here. I know that Paradise may be beautiful, bla, bla, etc but i really need to do or discover something before die.

Dont ask me what is that thing (i mean, i know one of the things that i need to do before "go" but i will not tell you :-))

The phrase "life after death" only has meaning if you assume this is life.  It actually more of a dream than 'life', but that's getting a little deep for the original question.

Do I fear death?  No.  Do I worry about leaving loved ones behind?  No, because I will be there for them as long as they need me.  It gives me a better peace of mind than any monetary insurance policy, think about it.

I'm visiting my mother as I write this because my Grandmother died on Friday.  I am not one of those people who is very good at consoling prople because I don't believe in "death" as we know it.  I see it as a shift in consciousness and sort of a "homecoming."  Someone here has a signature that says something like "Death is the best High, that's why we save it for last." and I believe this to be true.

That said, I do believe that I have things that I came here to accomplish and want to accomplish those things before my physical "death," so I choose to remain until those goals have been realized.

Life doesn't end at the the demise of the body. An incarnation ends but the life (us) go on.
Thus the saying "nobody can die since nobody was ever born" makes sense [:)]

My thoughts anyway, YMMV

The Great Gig in the Sky
Pink Floyd

"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime."

"If you can hear this whispering you are dying."

"I never said I was frightened of dying."
This is someone that pinkfloyd interviewed and thats what they said.  I feel the same way.

Hi Cinnabardk!

Nice to meet another Dane here [;)]

The best answer I can give you for me is - I don't know [}:)] ... I truly believe in the saying that "Life is about dying before you actually have to do it", but If I mind dying - or is afraid? ... Hmmm - good question!

...As a very vise man once said, "There is only two certainties in life, one is Death, and the other is the Tax-department!"

Like Beavis, I don't much like the dying part -- I guess it all depends on how you go -- suddenly, or in some long, drawn out painful process or some terrifying one.

But the death part, I have no fear of.  It is what it is.

Socrates said if there is nothing after life, then it would be a big, long sleep that never ends.  If there is something after life, then he would finally get to walk and talk with all the famous poets and heroes of his age.  He said, either way would be good for him.

I certainly believe it is more than a big, long sleep and hope it is a place of healing, friendship, beauty and peace where one doesn't need money or have any concerns for the physical and that I get to spend a good long time there before having to be reincarnated here again.  I think after a life in the physical realm, we all need a good, restorative place to renew out spirits and gain a perspective on the lives we just led.

In any case, it's not as if we have a choice about it.  It is our one, last final obligation.  Oh, we can delay it or avoid it at certain times in our lives and not be careless with the bodies we have, but ultimately, it is the one thing we all have to do.

Like birth, it really is our one common experience. Its what makes us all equal and makes life fair - happening to both Kings and beggars and everyone in between.

I just consider it a change of address, a going home to my true home.

Actualy dying my not be that bad even if it is the worst pain of you life because if nothing happens afterwords or you get roborn or something you won't remeber it.  Kinda like getting circumsised(sp)(it has to hurt like hell but you don't rember) or if there is heaven and hell then going to heaven would be great and the pain would be a small price to pay and if there is hell then you will have worse pain

I am not an advanced astral projector. But I have had enough Out of Body Experiences to know that losing the physical body is of little concern to me.

And so I wonder what all this "ascending to the 4th dimension" stuff is really about.
Does it in reality refer to the death of the physical body (Death being too scary a word ?) - the same way that some people use "he passed over", "he kicked the bucket", "he departed" instead of merely saying "he died" ?

Or does it refer to our world behaving very, very oddly in the not-so-distant future, which somehow makes it possible to skip the usual dying phase in order to go more or less permanently to the astral with all your belongings ?

Am I mistaken, and the 4th dimension isn't really any reference to the astral at all, but something entirely different ? If so, how can I visit it ?

I don't mind dying the usual way, and I certainly don't expect the world to change just so that I can skip the dying experience.
