Euphoric Sunrise

Ah music, is there anything greater?
I'll share just one song. It's from a progressive-rock/metal band called Dream Theater. It's on their release titled "A Change of Seasons" which consists of a few live cover songs from their favourite bands and one 24 minute (i think) epic they recorded in the studio. It's one of my favourite songs ever.

[Music by Dream Theater]
[Lyrics by Mike Portnoy]

[I. The Crimson Sunrise]

[Instrumental]

[II. Innocence]

I remember a time
My frail, virgin mind
Watched the crimson sunrise
Imagined what it might find
Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter's snow

Innocence caressing me
I never felt so young before
There was so much life in me
Still I longed to search for more

But those days are gone now
Changed like a leaf on a tree
Blown away forever
Into the cool autumn breeze
The snow has now fallen
And my sun's not so bright
I struggle to hold on
With the last of my might

In my den of inequity
Viciousness and subtlety
Struggle to ease the pain
Struggle to find the same

Ignorance surrounding me
I've never been so filled with fear
All my life's been drained from me
The end is drawing near...

[III. Carpe Diem]

"Carpe diem
Seize the day"

I'll always remember
The chill of November
The news of the fall
The sounds in the hall
The clock on the wall
Ticking away
"Seize the Day"
I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
Look around
Hear the sounds
Cherish your life
While you're still around

("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
(Old Time is still a-flying;)
(And this same flower that smiles today)
(Tomorrow will be dying")

We can learn
From the past
But those days
Are gone
We can hope
For the future
But there might not be one

The words stuck in my mind
Alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned

Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
Fearing my deepest fright
She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
I said, "I Love You...
Good-bye"

("It's the most awful thing you'll ever hear")
("If you're lying to me...")
("Oh, you dearly love her")
("...just have to leave...)
(All our lives")
("Seize the day!")
("Something happened")
("Gather ye rosebuds while ye may")
("She was killed")

[IV. The Darkest Of Winters]

[Instrumental]

[V. Another World]

So far or so it seems
All is lost
With nothing fulfilled
Off the pages and the
T.V. screen
Another world
Where nothing's true

Tripping through
The life fantastic
Lose a step
And never get up
Left alone
With a cold blank stare
I feel like giving up

I was blinded by a paradise
Utopia high in the sky
A dream that only drowned me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why

Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what
Don't let him be
Let's feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see

I'm sick of all
Your hypocrites
Holding me at bay
And I don't need
Your sympathy
To get me through the day

Seasons change and so can I
Hold on Boy
No time to cry
Untie these strings
I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away

Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what
Don't let him be
Let's feed upon
His misery
Now it's time for them
To deal with me

[VI. The Inevitable Summer]

[Instrumental]

[VII. The Crimson Sunset]

I'm much wiser now
A lifetime of memories
Run though my head
They taught me how
For better or worse
Alive or dead
I realize
There's no turning back
Life goes on
The offbeaten track

I sit down with my son
Set to see the Crimson Sunset
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
Many years have come and gone
I've lived my life, but now must move on
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
He's my only one
Now that my time has come
Now that my life is done
We look into the sun
"Seize the day
And don't you cry
Now it's time
To say good-bye
Even though
I'll be gone
I will live on
Live on"
"The soul is never silent, but wordless"

dream theater! john petrucci! hail the virtuoso!

lyrics are way overrated... but blue oyster cult does a great job with them, imo ('dont fear the reaper' was blue oyster cult).. their lyrics always sound extremely clear and are filled with beautiful imagery, yet they usually don't seem to make sense, since they tend to base their lyrics off of science fiction sort of things without telling you what they're singing about.

here are two good examples.. they're really great songs

Astronomy from the album Secret Treaties

The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Like acid and oil on a madman's face
His reason tends to fly away

Like lesser birds on the four winds
Like silver scrapes in May
Now the sands become a crust
And most of you have gone away

Come Susie dear, let's take a walk
Just out there upon the beach
I know you'll soon be married
And you want to know where the winds come from

Well it's never said at all
On the map that Carrie reads
Behind the clock back there you know
At the four winds bar

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Four winds at the four winds bar
Two doors locked and windows barred
One door let to take you in
The other one just mirrors it
Hey, hey, hey, hey

In hellish glare and inference
The other one's a duplicate
The queenly flux, eternal light
Or the light that never warms (repeat twice)

The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Miss Carrie nurse and Suzy dear
Would find themselves at the four winds bar

It's the nexus of the crisis
The origin of storms
Just the place to hopelessly
Encounter time and then came me
Hey, hey, hey, hey

Call me Desdenova, eternal light
These gravely digs of mine
Will surely prove a sight
And don't forget my dog, fixed and consequent

Astronomy...a star

Last Days of May from the album Blue Oyster Cult

Parched land no desert sand, sun's just a dot
And a little bit of water goes a long way, 'cause it's hot
Three good buddies were laughing and smoking in the back
Of a rented ford
They couldn't have know they weren't going far

Each one with the money in his pocket
Could go out and buy himself a brand new car
But they all had the money they had
Money they hoped would take them very far

The sky was bright, a traffic light, now and then a truck
And they hadn't seen a cop around all day
They brought everything they needed
bags and scales to weigh the stuff
The driver said the border's just over the bluff

It wasn't until the car suddenly stopped
In the middle of a cold and barren place
And the other guy turned and spilled
Three boys blood.. did they know a trap had been lain?

They're ok, the last days of ma.., I'll be breathing dry air
I'm leaving soon, the others are already there
You wouldn't be interested in coming along, instead of staying here
They say the west is nice this time of year..

what really gives those lyrics impact is the music, obviously.. gives me chills listening to it! you guys should check out the mp3s. great stuff.
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?

Very good so far!  Let's keep em coming!

This is another one, this time by Linkin Park.  You won't find THIS song on any of their albums, but man is it good.

Linkin Park - Dedicated

This is dedicated to the kids,
Dedicated to wherever music lives,
Dedicated to those, tired of the same old same,
Dedicated to the people advanced in the game.

(What's Real), Is the kids who know that something's wrong.
(What's Real), Is the kids who think they don't belong.
(What's Real), Is the kids who have nowhere to run, who are hiding in the shadows, waiting for the sun.

This is dedicated to the kids,
Dedicated to wherever music lives,
Dedicated to those, tired of the same old same,
Dedicated to the people advanced in the game.

(What's Real) Everybody who doesn't feel safe.
(What's Real) Everybody who knows they're outta place.
(What's Real) Everybody with nowhere to run, who hides in the shadows, waiting for the sun.

That is the last chorus of the song.  I put in both because I'm like that.

I like this line from a silverchair song called Tommorow,

"You say that money isn't everything, well I'd like to see you live without it, you think you can keep on going living like a king, well I strongly doubt it."

plus, pretty much any lyrics from Pink Floyd always trigger a feeling in me, but there are too many to mention here!

James S

Ok, here's one for the old farts among us -
I can recite this one through in it's entirety. Probably'll never forget it!

Jethro Tull - Only Solitaire
From the album Warchild
(melody same as opening bars from Thick as a Brick)

Brain-storming habit-forming battle-warning weary
Winsome actor spewing spineless chilling lines ---
The critics falling over to tell themselves he's boring
And really not an awful lot of fun.
Well who the hell can he be when he's never had v.d.,
And he doesn't even sit on toilet seats?
Court-jesting, never-resting --- he must be very cunning
To assume an air of dignity
And bless us all with his oratory prowess,
His lame-brained antics and his jumping in the air.
And every night his act's the same
And so it must be all a game of chess he's playing ---
``but you're wrong, steve: you see, it's only solitaire.''

Enjoy,
James

I have that 3 doors down album, it's really good! The best album i've ever heard is cacoon crash by k's choice. It is amazing.

Believe
Bravely I look further than I see
Knowing things I know I cannot be, not now
I'm so aware of where I am, but I don't know where that is
And there's something right in front of me and I

Touch the fingers of my hand
And I wonder if it's me
Holding on and on to Theories of prosperity
Someone who can promise me
I believe in me

Tomorrow I was nothing, yesterday I'll be
Time has fooled me into thinking it's a part of me
Nothing in this room but empty space
No me, no world, no mind, no face

Touch the fingers of my hand and tell me if it's me
Holding on and on to Love, what else is real
A religion that appeals to me, oh
I believe in me

Can you turn me off for just a second, please
Turn me into something faceless, weightless, mindless, homeless
Vacuum state of peace

clandestino

ok, heres a "guided by voices" track...

Wondering Boy Poet

Dream on child of change
Throw your javelin through the sun
Pierce the heart of everyone
Though we push to slave the days
This is not reality, this is just formality
The cup is only being filled
For a chance to have it spilled
Flowing--just like the days
Sailing--just like the days...
I'll Name You The Flame That Cries

Hi guys,

Big music fan here, too. [:D] To save me from posting again, here is the link to a post from awhile back:

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3537

I posted the lyrics to "Anything" by Culture Beat and "In My Dreams" by Darkness; two fine Eurodance songs, indeed. Give them a listen, too; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. [:)]

Cheers,

Nay

These are great!  Here is my contribution.

Vanessa Carlton,

Twilight

I was stained, with a role,
in a day not my own
but as you walked into my life
you showed what needed to be shown
I always knew, what was right
I just didn't know that I might
peel away and choose to see
with such a different sight

Chorus
and I will never see the sky the same way,
and I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday
and I will never cease to fly if held down,
and I will always reach too high cause I've seen,
cause I've seen twilight

never cared never wanted
never sought to see what flaunted
so on purpose so in my face
couldn't see beyond my own place
it was so easy not to behold what I could hold
but you taught me I could change
whatever came within these shallow days

Chorus

as the sun shines through it pushes away
and pushes ahead
it fills the warmth of blue
and leaves a chill instead and
I didn't know that I could be
so blind to all that is so real
but as illusion dies
I see there is so much to be revealed

Chorus

I was stained, by a role,
in a day not my own
but as you walked into my life
you showed what needed to be shown
I always knew, what was right
I just didn't know that I might
peel away and choose to see
with such a different sight

Chorus

Whoo this topic is still active :D

Not many of the techno songs I have have lyrics, and if they do, they aren't that great. :x

The Faint - Call Call

I'd sleep on the white tile lobby floor,
and pace until the time to visit starts.
The bright lights are on but I'm away...
how nervous a voice sounds on the phone.

You agree when you check in at the desk.
Permission and trust in every move.
And I'd be beside you when they're done,
but i'll have to wait until i can call.

Call Call! (the whole chorus! XD)

The blood kept you home while i was gone.
They left you a note when you woke up.
"Don't be alarmed by wooden spirits."
There won't be a need for you to call.

Call Call!

Excuses for careless doctor errors.
Acceptance by all past patients have,
allowed for a cold disclaiming note.
The warning is there, no need to call.

Call Call!

The Faint - Agenda Suicide

You could follow logic, or contest it all.
The work solution makes the common house a home
The element of progress that you mention is gone.
It de-evolved to something you were headed toward.

As i lay to die the things i think, did i waste my time?
I think i did. I worked for life.

All we want are just pretty little homes.
Our work makes pretty little homes.

Like a cast shadow, like a father's dream.
Have a cut out son, what's a worse disease.
To get that pretty little home?

As i lay to die the things I think.
I dont want to regret what I did.  I worked for life

All we want are just pretty little homes.
Our work makes pretty little homes.
Agenda suicide, the drones work hard before they die.
And give up on pretty little homes.

(like a cast shadow)

Our work makes pretty little homes.
Our work makes pretty little homes.
Agenda suicide. the drones work hard before they die.
And give up on pretty little homes.

There's more. I'm just lazy ;x

Hi.

Creed's, 'Can you take me higher?'.  All of the words.

And a lot of other songs. [:P]

Love always.

Fyrenze

I love music of all sorts, and I used to be known as the Juke Box because I can learn lyrics very easily - I'll be in the middle of a conversation with someone and something they say with either remind me of a song or a movie or something I read - and off I go quoting or singing...

So rather than put all of my favorite songs, of which their are endless numbers, I'll go with songs that are playing as I post..

I've been on a big Goldfinger kick lately. I was on one of those a few years ago, and then recently I started up with it again.

So - Open Your Eyes by Goldfinger, the title song of their most recent albulm.

Open your eyes to the millions of lies that they tell you every day
Open your mind to the clever disguise that the advertisements say
How do they know what's good for you

Wake up wake up, whoa
Wake up wake up, whoa
A shot to the head, you're better off dead
Will you wake up wake up, whoa

Starve all the land and kill what you can just to make the profits rise
They sell you from birth for all that you're worth the money spreads like lies
And how do they know what's good for you

Wake up wake up, whoa
Wake up wake up, whoa
A shot to the head, they're better off dead
Will you wake up wake up, whoa

(Interlude)

Don't wanna hate you; don't wanna blame it all on you
Out of options
If you don't look I'll force you to
If you don't look I'll force you to

Wake up wake up, whoa
Wake up wake up, whoa
A shot to the head just so you can be fed
Will you wake up wake up, whoa

Open your eyes
Open your eyes

PROMISED LAND - Joe Smooth

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
Brothers, sisters, one day we'll all be free
From fighting; violence; people crying in the street
When the angels from above
Fall down and spread their wings like doves
We'll walk hand in hand
Sisters, brothers, we'll make it to the Promised Land

You and I
We'll walk the land
And as one, and as one
We'll take our stand

When the angels from above
Fall down and spread their wings like doves
We'll walk hand in hand
Sisters, brothers, we'll make it to the Promised Land

"Welcome to this groove, you can move right
we gonna take you higher (higher)
not caught in the quagmire (mire)
I can't survive on a stupid nine to five
I'd rather be poor writing tunes livin' on a commune
kickin' it with my brothers (brothers)
and significant others (others)
life in pursuit of only money, we think it's funny
the only thing that money it could ever bring to me
would be some gifts for my friends
follow me now, trips for my family
the only thing I love is freedom (freedom)
the people around me I need them (I need them)"

AND

"Something you might like now
all-star bound yeah your so sound
cool as the blue water all around
from a force field flashing somebody is sending
black evolutions of love you are hearing
the dark supernatural is the world we call
our own home lightning in the mind comes out in song"

FINALLY

"You're a power spot rotating, ever-changing
transmitting like a radio wave frequently feeling
what's goin' on times are weird all this static
things erratic seems like we lost the magic
see hear how clear is inner quality
a yin and yang type of thang sacred geometry
ascending mad energy crazy bad
you're something NASA f---in' wish they had

Tune in for those who are wantin'
vision feel it from within, sing along
tune in for those who are wantin'
vision feel it from within

You're a star creator soul craft generator
movin' through time and space son you're a liberator
but you're memory has been erased
the things you knew misplaced check it out
Babylon life style we scorn
now we live again In L.A. Tokyo and New York"
We shall not cease from our exploration, and at the end of all our exploring, we shall arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

Pharao - I Show You Secrets (Very sweet Eurodance/trance)

I'll show you secrets, of your life.
Come with me, to the mystery of music

I'll show you secrets of your life
Secrets of your mind
The mystery of music will find a way one day, one day
Whoa whoa

Let me come inside your mind
What's the mystery I will find
Is it love or is it time ?
Is it yours or is it mine ?
Let me feel, let me give you the rhythm
Position of love is what I'm feeling...
Inside quick, catch up before you lose me
Don't look soon, you might not know me
Going up, what's the mystery of music ?
Will it find it's way, or will it lose it ?
There's a different way to know the answers
Hold your head in a great big bather
Time is running out, do you know ?
Feel the vibe and why let it grow
Open your heart, feel your mind, give me your soul
And feel the rhythm, let go

Try to think by my mind, it ponders
Try to reason with, but I wonder
What's this thing called another
Don't fight the feeling let the sound take over
Atmosphere, went on my head
Ozone, the music, turning me red
Also peace, love, unity
But no one in the world understands me
What do I do ? Lose control ?
No I give the rhythm my soul
Let it decide, find a way
To make this world a better place
Only one way to know what to do and
Open your heart, free your mind give your soul to music
Just do it, and feel the vibe

Can you feel ? Do you feel the vibe ? Do you feel the mystery of music?
Do you feel ? Do you feel the vibe ? Do you feel the mystery of music?

Come with me, to the mystery, of music

One day, some day, anyday, we'll find a way
One day, some day, anyday
One day

The mystery, of music

Pharao - There is a star (More excellent Euro/trance)

31 seconds and we're gone from auto sequence start
10 seconds... 4... 3... 2... 1... Ignition and lift-off

There is a star
There is a star

There is a star, there is a star
There must be one
Whatever you wish it will be done
And if you believe the star's always shining
There is a star, there is a star

Star light, so bright. First star
I see tonight. Make me think about life
The meaning you and me, myself, I
Can you picture why
If your mind is strong, no matter what's going on
Believe in yourself and shine on
And the meaning is so clear to see
Understand the power then a life goes deep
Then a life goes deep

Just let it go, but believe in you,
Do what you want to do, with the limit true
Twinkle, twinkle see the star
Now believe in who you are
Cause all you want is a future of love and peace
Then everything is clear to see
The starting point is the star
Just believe in who you are

One more (I do this one at spoken word night, sometimes):

"Crying in the Rain" by Culture Beat

Stop, you breathe you lie
Loops got ya lost I can't hear ya
Treason took a try
Desperate drown in dirty things
Juvenile Jazz you hide
Can't loose no love from day I shared
Faint twinkle in your eyes
Weary from how you earn your things
You slip from sliding
Slowly, slither, sneaky
Simple for a snake
Poser in pursuit of passion
Can't rush my quiver fake a quake
Betrayer, disarrayer,
Leave a soft one frying in the pain
Deceitful, full of that
Couldn't care less if you're crying in the rain

Stop that crying, stop that lying
It's boring me
I don't wanna spend my time with you
Stop to think that once you brought me to exctasy
I want the loving that I really need

Wooh, oh, hoh

Stop that crying in the rain now
No more crying in the rain...
Who said that crying in the rain
Could ever wash away a lover's pain
Wooh, oh, hoh

Fake, no truth, no real
Trapped in your toss
Can't shake aching
Fictions all you feel
Make up to hide, make up of self
Wicked with step ahead of skills
Menial madness molds your making
Plot to place for prize
Weak known wonders for wealth
You dig the dirt well deep in darkness
Dare to deal on the down low
Tripping for treasures, plastic pleasures
Headline in some kid side show
A taste of a thrill got to have glitter
Serpents seem to savor show
Fool can't afford
To feign alone you're crying in the rain

Found this gem of a song recently... It's called...

Staind - Price to Play

Fail to see how destructive we can be.
Taking without giving back 'til the damage can be seen.
Can you see? Can you see?

The more you take, the more you blame, but everything still feels the same.
The more you hurt, the more you scream; the price you pay to play the game.
Then all you see, and all you gave, and all you step on will know shame.
There are no rules, no one to blame; the price to play the game.

Empathy, the chosen way to be.
Blindly look the other way, while you waste away with me.
Can you see? Can you see?

The more you take, the more you blame, but everything still feels the same.
The more you hurt, the more you scream; the price you pay to play the game.
Then all you see, and all you gave, and all you step on will know shame.
There are no rules, no one to blame; the price to play the game.

What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game

The more you take, the more you blame, but everything still feels the same.
The more you hurt, the more you scream; the price you pay to play the game.
Then all you see, and all you gave, and all you step on will know shame.
There are no rules, no one to blame; the price to play the game.

What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game
What you pay to play the game

Time to resurrect the old girl...(the topic).  Blue is chorus, red is verse.

Some songs I forgot were so GOOD!  Heere Wee Goo! (Lil' joke from Crazy Taxi :p)

The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright WHOO!

When we were young the future was so bright, the old neighborhood was so alive.
And every kid on the whole da^n street, was gonna make it big and not be beat.

Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn, the kids are grown up but their lives are worn.
How can one little street, swallow so many lives?!

Chances thrown! Nothing's free!
Longing for, what used to be.
Still it's hard! Hard to see!
Fragile lives, shattered dreams.

Jamie had a chance, well she really did. Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids.
Mark still lives at home cause he's got no job, he just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot.

Jay committed suicide, Brandon OD'd and died.
What the he11 is going on, the cruelest dream, reality!

Chances thrown! Nothing's free!
Longing for, what used to be.
Still it's hard! Hard to see!
Fragile lives, shattered dreams.

Chances thrown! Nothing's free!
Longing for, what used to be.
Still it's hard! Hard to see!
Fragile lives, shattered dreams.

One of the few albums I actually bought... I'm so happy I did.  When I first heard the album, I stopped and played track 5 over and over again.  I never got to 6-13.  Had to hear this song OVER and OVER.  It was that good, it still is.  I finally managed to get the video for this song, and it fits perfectly with the theme of the song... It's this one room with a camera going 360 all around at all times.  Then it gets weird... People start coming out of people, blending together, etc.  Very odd.  MTV edited the word "pot".  :p

Seether - Fine Again

It seems like every day's the same, and I'm left to discover on my own.
It seems like everything is grey, and there's no color to behold.
They say it's over and I'm fine again, yeah.
Try to stay sober, feels like I'm dying, here.

And I am aware now, of how everything's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, I'm in he11!
I am prepared now, seems everyone's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, just as well.

I feel the dream in me expire, and there's no one left to blame it on.
I hear you label me a liar, 'cause I can't seem to get this through.
You say it's over, I can sigh again, yeah.
Why try to stay sober when I'm dying, here?

And I am aware now, of how everything's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, I'm in he11!
I am prepared now, seems everyone's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, just as well.

And I'm not scared now, I must assure you, you're never gonna get away.
And I'm not scared now.
And I'm not scared now.

And I am aware now, of how everything's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, I'm in he11!
I am prepared now, seems everyone's gonna be fine,
One day, too late, just as well.
I am prepared now, seems everything's gonna be fine,
For me, For me; for myself.
For me, for me, for myself.
For me, for me, for myself.
I am prepared now, for myself.
I am prepared now, and I am fine, again.

The video for this song is kickin... It's the 3 members of a band in a room with these giant black signs that people are holding that contains their personalities.  The camera only switches to that room occasionally... During the song, every 5 seconds, they put the camera on anohter person in another place with another sign about themselves.  Some aren't too pretty.  You should see this video.

Staind - Fade

I try to breathe, memories overtaking me.
I try to face them but, the thought was too much to conceive...

I only know that I can change,
Everything else just stays the same
So now I step out of the darkness that my life became 'cause

I just needed someone to talk to, you were just to busy with yourself.
You were never there for me to express how I felt; I just stuffed it down.
Now I'm older and I feel like I could let some of this anger fade,
But it seems the surface I am scratching, is the bed that I have made.

So where were you, when all this I was going through?
You never took the time, to ask me just what you could do.

I never meant to fade...away.
I NEVER MEANT TO FADE!

I just needed someone to talk to, you were just to busy with yourself.
You were never there for me to express how I felt; I just stuffed it down.
Now I'm older and I feel like I could let some of this anger fade,
But it seems the surface I am scratching, is the bed that I have made.

I try to breathe...

Never saw this video, but I did hear it live :p.   This song is way old, but it's STILL sooooo GOOD.  Staind has changed :)

Staind - So Far Away I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

This is my life, it's not what it was before.
All these feelings I've shared,
And these are my dreams, that I'd never lived before
Somebody shake me, 'cause I, I must be sleeping.

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
All the struggle we thought was in vain.
All the mistakes, one life contained,
They all finally start to go away

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
And I feel like I can face the day.
I can forgive, and I'm not ashamed,
To be the person that I am today.

These are my words, That I've never said before.
I think I'm doing okay.
And this is the smile, that I've never shown before.
Somebody shake me, 'cause I, I must be sleeping.

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
All the struggle we thought was in vain.
All the mistakes, one life contained,
They all finally start to go away

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
And I feel like I can face the day.
I can forgive, and I'm not ashamed,
To be the person that I am today.

I'm so afraid of waking!
Please don't shake me!
Afraid of waking,
Please don't shake me!

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
All the struggle we thought was in vain.
All the mistakes, one life contained,
They all finally start to go away

Now that we're here, it's so far away.
And I feel like I can face the day.
I can forgive, and I'm not ashamed,
To be the person that I am today.

Suite Madame Blue - Styx
Written by Dennis DeYoung
Lead vocals by Dennis DeYoung
Time after time I sit and I wait for your call
I know I'm a fool but why can I say
Whatever the price I'll pay for you, Madame Blue
Once long ago, a word from your lips and the world turned around
But somehow you've changed, you're so far away
I long for the past and dream of the days with you, Madame Blue

Suite Madame Blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Suite Madame Blue, the future is all but past
Dressed in your jewels, you made your own rules
You conquered the world and more ..............heaven's door

America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..
America....America...America..America..

Red white and blue, gaze in your looking glass
You're not a child anymore
Red, white, and blue, the future is all but past
So lift up your heart, make a new start
And lead us away from here

Interpretation
Suite Madame Blue is about the decline of America told using the analogy of a woman. It was written as a wake up call in 1975 as the American Bicentennial approached. Note the line "You conquered the world and more...heaven's door" referring to America's accomplishment of landing a man on the moon in 1969. The theme of this song was revived in 1980 as the basis of the concept behind the Paradise Theatre album.

HAVE YOU EVER REALLY LOVED A WOMAN ? (Bryan Adams)
To really love a woman
To understand her
You gotta know her deep inside
Hear every thought
See every dream
And give her wings when she wants to fly
And when you find yourself
Lying helpless in her arms
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
She needs somebody
To tell her that it's gonna last forever
So tell me have you ever really
Really really ever loved a woman
To really love a woman
Let her hold you
Do you know how she needs to be touched ?
You gotta breath her
Really taste her
To you can feel her in your blood
Then when you can see your unborn children in her eyes
You know you really love a woman
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's really wanted
When you love a woman
You tell her that she's the one
She needs somebody
To tell her that you'll always be together
So tell me have you ever really
Really really ever loved a woman
You got to give her some faith
Hold her tight
A little tenderness
You gotta treat her right
She'll be there for you
Taking good care of you
You really gotta love your woman
"For the good of the fire in your soul"
