For those of you who play the piano...

as well as...

For those of you appreciate "Pachelbel's Canon in D"...

A friend of mine, Peter, had composed / put together his own version of Canon, based on existing versions of the Pachelbel masterpiece, and we recorded his playing on my digital piano (the Yamaha DGX-500).

Hi Kyo Kusanagi

Pachelbel's Canon in D is my all time favourite piece of classical music, so I couldn't resist hearing Peter's version.

It's really nice.  I love the little extra "twinkly" bits he adds.  :)

Send him a thank you from me next time to you see him - I enjoyed it very much.

Glad you liked it! I'll let him know! ;)

Another lovely piano piece based on the Canon theme, other than George Winston's "Variations on the Kanon", is composer David Lanz's "Variations On A Theme From Pachelbel's Canon In D Major" performed by pianist Marilyn Byrnes.

You can hear a full version MP3 sample from her brother's website (a dogmatic Christian website, incidentally) :

That was a beautiful variation!  :)  I love the Canon--it's one of those pieces that is so deceptively simple, but so beautiful.

I've always wanted a digital piano... my piano teacher had one and it was so much fun!

I was classically trained in piano for 10 years, but haven't touched a piano in probably 12 or 13 years.  I really need to get a keyboard of some kind.  I don't think I could fit a piano into my apt.  Or even get it up here. *sigh*

Oh yes, Canon is a clearly angelically and/or higher vibrationally inspired piece of love ;)

I soooo highly recommend my DGX-500 Yamaha digital piano, powerful and versatile. The latest model in this seres is the DGX-505 (here's the official Yamaha website) :

Composer pianist David Lanz's "Variations On A Theme From Pachelbel's Canon In D Major" is one of the very few Canon piano variations that can match George Winston's "Variations on the Kanon" in its beauty and brilliance.

Sample mp3 of David Lanz's "Variations On A Theme From Pachelbel's Canon In D Major" :

If anyone knows any more good piano versions or variations based on the Pachelbel masterpiece, please share the website urls of the mp3s or midis here.

Today (07 Aug 05), Peter came over to my place, and we managed to do a recording of his latest version of "Peter's Canon" on my Yamaha DGX-500 piano. This version sees some significant additions to the earlier (22 Jul 05) version.

Unfortunately, we still did not have the time to do several re-recordings, so you will still notice quite a number of errors in the recording, for which we apologize. We still hope to record a more updated, properly executed version of "Peter's Canon", to be made available in the future.

For the moment, we hope you will enjoy the new, 07 Aug 05 version of "Peter's Canon".
