At a University?

My pet peeve is shows like American Idol and Married by America. Who in their right mind would go onto a show where others choose who you will be married to? That's such crap.

Another one of my pet peeves is the sheep mentality of the general population (probably related to my first pet peeve).

James S

Ignorant and abusive drivers.
The ones that when you indicate to change lanes, the speed up to cut you off.
I heard on the news this morning that Aussies are one of the worst in the world for abusive driving and road rage. It also seems our 20's to 30's women drivers are the most aggressive and abusive.

Also companies that try to sell product using fake science and techno-babble. Have you ever wondered what some of those amazing age-reversing chemicals are that they put into expensive skin creams? Most dermatologists will tell you its all crap! Or better yet...nutbags who try to convince desperate people that their cancer can be treated using devices built on Tesla based superluminal technology, that for some reason cost thousands of dollars per session just to run the machine.

What a cool thread[8D] This sort of thing is very therapeutic.

Inconsiderate smokers are a real pain in the a***. I used to live with some friends (so called) who smoked indoors, even though I pleaded that they take it outside. They outnumbered me and obviously didn't care how I felt about it. I found myself constantly daydreaming about ways I could murder them and dispose of their bodies (even though I would never really do something like that)[:P]

Another thing that irritates me is unnecessary superficiality, like when someone says "how are you?" when it's obvious that they couldn't care less, and aren't even expecting a real answer. This is a most common occurrence in day to day life. People seem to use it as a substitute for a simple "hello" or "hi". In my opinion people should avoid asking someone how they are, unless they are actually interested in receiving a more detailed response than "good" or "not bad" or whatever. And it's infinitely worse if the person asks you it while holding a mobile phone to their ear and briskly walking past you. AAARRGHH!

It doesn't always bother me. Just depends on my mood

Fat_Turkey

My biggest pet peeve is the sheep mentality of the overall population. This takes root in ages as little as 5!!! ARRRGH!!

The crap driving in this country also peeves me off. We almost got into a fatal accident cause some moron sped up when we were gonna overtake him and there was another car coming our way - if he didn't speed up we wouldn't have to swerve off and back into our lane!!!

Useless reality shows and shows where they choose who you marry/go out with. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! Gameshows too! You're watching some other lowlife with the IQ of a farm animal getting a cash prize that of which you worked your a** off for years and years, not to mention your education, yet you still get absolutely ticked when the idiot answers the question wrong!

My final pet peeve - the US government and the majority of American attitudes. "We ARE the world superpower!" heh, for a country where half of the population are general f***wits who dropped out of high school I feel real safe being policed and run by them, especially now with the Missing Link Between Man and Ape running the country.

I got more but I can't think right now[:P]

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

Ooohhh I think I'll join in...

People not being honest and open to me. Hiding behind fake smiles, silence or turned faces. If someone has a problem with me I want to know it damnit! Maybe then someone can do something, or at least reach a stage of mutual understanding. I like to know where I stand with someone. I also I really dont like the whole superficiality of human interaction, though I feel sorry or people stuck in that way of thinking. Guess I am a little paranoid at times though :p. I think, the latter of those two points comes down to an underlying flaw in how our society works - what is important is what you are SEEN to be, not what you ARE. So people go on living the life others think they should be living, and get further and further away from themself. This then leads to the sheep mentality and the pressure to adopt the norms of society along with all the pre-conceptions and flawed ideologies that go with it. If only people could learn to look inside.....introspection and understanding of all should be taught in school from the first.

Bu I think my biggest, full on hate, is for those who oppress, who hold back truth, who get in the way of our evolution into light. Like those stage magicians who set out to debunk all things paranormal, scum!!! (the "amazing" randi, penn and teller (sp?) etc). The people who watch and laugh are nearly as bad, though they are more ignorant than evil (what a word! eeeeeevil!!), it seems to me the step from one to the other isnt such a big one...

my pet peeve is fat turkey surviving all these thanksgivings.. you're going to be caught sooner or later! yum. [:D]
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?

goingslow

People who wont let anyone in the lane even when there's an accident.  They'll scoot up to the next car just to make sure the person doesn't get in.

People who pass you in a residential area because you're going 40 and they want to go 60.

People who speed up when you try to pass them then slow down when you're behind them.  That really pisses me off.. and they keep doing it so you have to finally pass them going 80.

Bob251

Hmmm, pet peeves, eh?  Alright

Any and all incosiderate and ignorant drivers (of the most BASIC laws of driving, like stop signs;  you're supposed to STOP).

Close-minded people.  Especially those that are somewhat intelligent; they form some kind of argument to debunk another person's view.  Then there are the ones that comment on a topic of which they know nothing about.  That is very annoying.

People who laugh at their own jokes when no one else is laughing.  Unless they get the idea that they AREN'T FUNNY.  It's the ones that don't get the message that annoy me.

People that are just complete a**holes, know they are a**holes, choose to be a**holess, and don't give a flip about what anyone else thinks.  Makes me want to shoot them in the foot repeatedly.

Meh, I'll think of others later...

Hey, if you get a chance drop a line about your bro. Has he left for Iraq yet?

At the moment he's in Alberta doing some sort of field exercises so he's been out of contact for a couple of months. It all depends on whether or not they decided to send him now.

Another pet peeve- Nose hair. When it grows too long it's itchy and annoying. And it doesn't stop! Come to think of it, facial hair is annoying too. It grows in, I shave it, it grows in again, I shave it- Take a hint! There should be some sort of switch or button to turn off the growing process. You know, while I'm at it, all body hair is annoying, sometimes even the hair atop my head! It's wild and untamed/untamable. There's no point to body hair because there isn't enough of it to keep people warm without them having to wear clothes, yet there is too much of it on some people that it's unattractive to the opposite sex (same sex if you're homosexual). It has absolutely no function! Wait, maybe its function is to annoy people.

Nick

Passive aggresive drivers. Those that drive slow in the fast lane.
"What lies before us, and what lies behind us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us...." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Jenadots

Drivers who speed up when I signal to merge.
Students who can't seem to shut the f*** up when I ask them to.
So called reality shows.

But the driving thing is the worst.  I also hate people who decide that the back of my car is just where their car should be.  I am going to get a bumper sticker that says:  Let somebody else be your next accident and I stop for everything except my ex-husband.

Maybe that will keep these pinheads off my tailpipes when I am going as fast as everyone else.  I not too fond of the people who honk even when there is obviously a line of cars and trucks in front of me.  I know they are not honking because I'm so cute -- all they see is the back of my head.

It always amazes me how so many perfectly normal people act like complete idiots when they get in a car.

Thanks for the opportunity to vent. [:D]

strwrs_guru

why dont all of you start riding public transportation? it seems like your stress levels would be lower![:D]

and to jenadots.......damn, i hope i dont run into you in a parent/teacher confrence(sp)lol
the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing in the face of it.

strwrs_guru

and cant anyone come up with a better peeve than the obvious bad drivers?

someone mentioned inconsiderate smokers. well im a smoker and i try to be considerate, but i get ticked when im treated like a leper because i smoke. you cant smoke in the airport, you cant smoke in most restaraunts, and you cant smoke in most office buildings. what kind of crap is this????  i dont see anyone trying to get rid of cars because the pollution coming out of the tailpipe is slowly killing them!!!  im not saying we should smoke whereever, but give us a room of our own with a really good vent.

and another thing.......... the gay pride parade......... this one really ticks me off.  Hey, if you swing that way more power to you.
i believe in live and let live.. but when you have a parade and you are walking down the street with rubber penises and things of the like in a public forum, you should be arrested.its offensive and totally inapropriate for children to see. the gays say they want equal rights, but thats not equal, thats special rights!!! i thought that was what you guys were fighting against? i couldnt throw a heterosexual parade with people walking down the streets with those kinds of things..........so why should you get to?

boy i could get going on all sorts of issues, so lets hear some more creativeness out there![}:)]

strwrs_guru

alright im heated now.........this one is for us americans

did you guys and girls know that our major politicians, i.e.senators, house of representatives, etc.....get free health care for the rest of their lives?and so do their families!yes, even after they no longer work in the job position.its no wonder our health care system is as f***ed as it is.these guys dont care if you cant afford your meds or life saving surgeries...they get theirs.....

how does this grab all of you?????

cainam_nazier

Stupid people really bother me, you know, the ones you want to slap just because they are so stupid.

no_leaf_clover

hmm.. after reading guru's post i came up with some pet peeves besides ft not being found and eaten yet.

i have this little wind/brass/guitar tuner and the batteries run dead in it pretty fast, so i use an AC adapter on it. it has interchangeable heads, but they wont stay in, and i only use one. ive tried supergluing it, taping it, beating it violently into its plug, etc. but nothing works! and it falls out so easily! and it gets on my nerves.

i have a latin teacher who lost half of our latin class in the first three weeks of school. only half the class gets stuff, the rest of us fail miserably. she just gives us assignments and tells us to read out of our books, and then sits at her computer the rest of the period looking up the weather, plane tickets, etc. and then gets back up at the end of class to have our work graded. when she DOES explain stuff (this is rare), she sucks at it and confuses us. the book makes more sense and its in latin.

we have lunch accounts at school where we can deposit money for lunch for, say, a week, instead of bring a $1.25 every single day for lunch. what sucks about this is they have tons of drink/snack machines, but they won't let you withdraw money to buy something out of the machines. its torture..

when youre downloading something off of like napster.. and its been downloading forever.. and then it screws up in the 90% area, and you lose a big chunk of whatever you were downloading.

when bands dont tune to a 440 pitch, and then when you tune and try to play along it sounds harmonically nasty as hell. and its not good on your strings to drastically change the tuning that often.

when you go outside and step in a big pile of dog doo, and it wasnt your dog that left it there. maybe you dont even have a dog. but now you must suffer its doo.. on your bare foot.. or even worse.. on your shoe.. and you track it into the house.

thats about all i can think of right now.

Oh!  This is great and yes, whoever said it, it is theraputic!  (did I spell that right?)

Anyway, the whole rude driver thing seems to be universal.

And I liked (Ignuma I think said it): "People not being honest and open to me. Hiding behind fake smiles, silence or turned faces. If someone has a problem with me I want to know it damnit!"

Yes!  I guess some superficiality is warranted in life, I mean we do have to work and talk with people whom we don't really want to sometimes, but I do agree.  If and when someone has a problem with me, or something I have said or done, come out and say it!  I have been put in some bad perdicaments at work because someone doesn't point out a mistake and instead they tell others or bring it up at an inopportune time, like months later in front of the boss or something.  Don't get me wrong, this type of thing doesn't happen often, but when it does it REALLY makes me mad.

And yes, politicians...they are truly evil sometimes.

Well, I gotta get some sleep, but I will be back to visit this forum.

Before I go, however, I mention one more big one:

People who kick my seat from behind in movie theaters.  I want to dismember them!

that kickking the chair thing is a good one...............how about people that talk during the movie in the theater?

PeacefulWarrior

What is your pet peeve?

I have quite a few, one of them is people who don't flush the toilet in public restrooms.  At the University I attend I see at least one guy a week who uses the toilet and then just walks away.  I have actually started confronting them, especially if they wash their hands.  I say, "Hey man, if you wash your hands, why the hell don't you flush the toilet.  That's disgusting."  or I just say, "Hey, you forgot to flush the toilet."

Anyway, probably more info than you wanted.

Oh, and I hate when I am merging onto the freeway and the person won't speed up or slow down to let me on, what kind of evil person does that!!!!!????[?]
