PCP can do it, too. It is also known as "angel dust".

However it works, would you really be willing to pay the price afterward for the damage it can cause?

Certain chemicals within our bodies can trigger these abilities, when they are needed. Why would you want to use them if you didn't need to?

From what I know, this is psi energy that your talking about (energy influenced by the mind and nervous system).

Often when people are in terrifying situations, their nervous system goes haywire and generates enourmous amounts of energy. This can be directed into the performance of these amazing feats you speak of (We've all heard the stories... 'Little lady lifts a huge tree above her head to save her huband' etc etc)

Training in psionics, one learns to tap into this energy at will. And of course it can be used for many other things too (not just superhuman strength).

I really don't know much about ki. From what I've read about it -from various sources- too many contradictions have arisen as to exactly what it is and what it isn't.

These are my favourite sites on psionics:

Shadow17,

This is called the "fight or flight" instinct.  The high level of emotions created by the situation cause adrenaline to be let into the body.  Most people at this point are not fully thinking on thier own.  Instincts kick in and take over.  Now you can alter what your reactions whould be at this point with training.  If you do enough training you will most likely revert back to in the proper situation.
Recreating these feats requires training.  Recreating the chemical produced by the body at this time is dangerous and should not be done or attempted.

See below.

This example is actually due to a chemical reaction in the body.  It's not mysterious its science.

Adrenanline As knowns as Ephinephrine

Or read on.

epinephrine

Miller-Keane Medical Dictionary, 2000
(ep´´î-nef´rin)  a hormone produced by the medulla of the "adrenal glands" ADRENAL GLANDS; called also adrenaline (Great Britain). Its function is to aid in the regulation of the sympathetic branch of the autonomic "nervous system" NERVOUS SYSTEM. At times when a person is highly stimulated, as by fear, anger, or some challenging situation, extra amounts of epinephrine are released into the bloodstream, preparing the body for energetic action. Epinephrine is a powerful vasopressor which increases blood pressure and increases the heart rate and cardiac output. It also increases glycogenolysis and the release of glucose from the liver. The person has a suddenly increased feeling of muscular strength and aggressiveness.
Some disorders of the adrenal glands, such as Addison's disease, reduce the output of epinephrine below normal. By contrast, excessive activity of the adrenals, often seen in highly emotional persons, tends to produce tenseness, palpitation, high blood pressure, perhaps diarrhea, and overaggressiveness. Certain adrenal tumors result in the production of too much epinephrine. Removal of the tumor relieves symptoms.
Epinephrine is also produced synthetically. It can be administered parenterally, topically, or by inhalation, and acts as a vasoconstrictor, antispasmodic, and sympathomimetic. It is used as an emergency heart stimulant and to relieve symptoms in allergic conditions such as urticaria (hives) and asthma. It is the most effective drug for counteracting the lethal effects of anaphylactic shock.

I find that there are a lot of contradictions to do with Psi energy as well. It seems to be more like bioenergy and at the same time it has pure-energy or high-energy properties.

About the ki contradictions - that is simply because if you type in "ki" or "chi" or "qi" in a search engine you'll find that 80% of the websites(most likely more) are total Dragon Ball Z ripoffs and they are "training" people "techs" on how to shoot "ki blasts" and the like. The only way one will find a true path of Ki is to do a martial arts. But even then the energetic development is very slow - and you only do the energy aspect of it if the martial arts you are learning is taught the traditional way. The concept of a ki ball came in during what I like to call the "radical ki movement," where a kind of cult started to create these things and then they got lost in their own DBZ fantasies.

Shadow17 -

Some websites like to call that a "limit break," and I'm sure if auraseer were here he'd tell you that. I don't believe in such a thing, however, because it contradicts the idea of a "burnout." There is something similar to what you're talking about called lentation - apparantly very difficult and dangerous to do because you are messing with something that shouldn't be messed with. You can go to VeritasOnline.net if you really want to but I advise that you only start looking into it when you've been doing energy work/development/practices for at least a year or two.

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

"I find that there are a lot of contradictions to do with Psi energy as well. It seems to be more like bioenergy and at the same time it has pure-energy or high-energy properties."

Yes, I agree with this. There are few things in this world that do not posess contradictions.

Most elites in the field describe psi as being closely associated with the nervous system, thus posessesing bioenergetic properties, as well as the more refined energy characteristics. This of course suggests that certain  biochemical fluctuations within the body -especially any conscious altering of funcions normally associated with autonomic nervous system (suposedly out of our conscious control) can also be associated with psi. (Biokinesis)

So of course I agree with you cainam_nazier, and it's a good point that you made, but the chemicals don't just appear all by themself.[8D]

Amazingly enough theres this little biological creation that is known to many as the Adrenal gland, this biological appendage strangely enough secretes into ones blood stream a chemical called Adrenalin - now this wonderful chemical does some amazing things to a persons body most notably increasing the bodys pain threshhold, durability and strength - its a nice little thing that animals have developed during evolution to help them in what used to be back then and to an extent still is a dangerous world of predators - it allowed animals such as us humans survive encounters with predators, the brain when realising danger/trouble is at hand sends a message to the adrenal gland which increases production of adrenalin into the bloodstream to help get away from the danger no matter what.

Here's an extract from a dictionary for clarification:

ADRENALIN: "A hormone secreted by the adrenal medulla that is released into the bloodstream in response to physical or mental stress, as from fear or injury. It initiates many bodily responses, including the stimulation of heart action and an increase in blood pressure, metabolic rate, and blood glucose concentration. Also called adrenaline.

Now it could be the same or it could be different but there's also a chemical that amazingly lowers pain perception when you are injured, the brain realises the body is injured and sends the msg to release a pain relief drug.

How amazing the body is with paranormal intervention.

Actually adrenaline stimulates the flight or fight reaction.  Instead of just sitting there and allowing the thing to kill you.  However, it doesn't follow that you're going to actually fight better.  And even with adrenaline many have fought but lost.  In fact who knows how many times adrenaline kicked in but the person wasn't able to escape something.  So adrenaline is in no  way a superhuman phenomenon.

All this talk about adrenaline doesn't actually show what causes the huge increases in strength.  You could say its the absence of pain.  However, pain killers alone wont allow a small person to lift a car.

Im not saying its some kind of psi energy that accounts for the extra strenght.  But I am kinda amused how people make it seem as if adrenaline has been proven to allow people to lift cars and one ton blocks.  Its not that easily explainable.

goingslow

Oh and the post about increase in muscle strength.  Its proven that you're able to use far more of your muscle strength when your adrenaline increases.  Meaning lets say you have a certain muscle density and a certain threshold.  More muscle means more strength so a large man can carry a cerain amount; a larger man a different amount; an old lady a lesser amount.  Its saying "more muscle strenth" that you would normally have.  So the old lady can lift maybe twice as much as she normally has.

However increased muscle strength doesn't account for a little old lady suddenly being able to lift the amount two men can.  She doesn't suddenly have the strength of more muscle than she actually has.  But people read "more muscle strenth" and think its logical that with more you suddenly can lift what takes 5 grown men to lift.

Again proven phenomenon such as adrenaline doesn't actually prove the incredible increase in strength.  Also people are able to break huge blocks and most times they dont rely on the natural flight or fight reaction.  They instead rely on something else.  I haven't studied enough of this something else to figure out what it is.

It was just the condescending tone of "yeah this incredible supernatural thing called adrenaline" i was responding to.  Its actually probably more complicated than that.

sahlyn

While I admit that I'm no expert in the field, I AM familiar with the feeling of generating and manipulating psi. And through my own experience I've noticed that in situations of excitement (including terror) psi levels are boosted. This is not just some dreamt up theory I decided to share because it sounds cool.

Medical science is ingnorant of a great deal (energetic aspect), and thus it's theories remain vunerable to great flaws and oversights. It may be that these things have resonable explanations regarding chemical processes, but it is foolish to believe that this is all that's going on.

Movement of energy through the body will often bring about imediate physical reactions to go with it. Increased circulation, raised blood pressure etc. And if it was adrenalin alone that was responsible for superstrength, then psi has a direct influence over it anyway. When powered up I feel a significant increase in strength. I do not deny the chemical significance of these things, but I would like to press the point that there is a strong energetic significance in these matters as well.

Psi is not mysterious or supernatural.

Well said goingslow [8D]

i heard from someone who was studying the 'fight or flight' subject that humans are the only animal we know of that are capable of producing both the chemicals at the same time.  it may be why we get to choose if we fight or flee in a situation when we feel strongly that we should be doing the opposite.  other animals don't get the choice we have.  they are born either the kind that will fight no matter what, or the kind that will just freeze in terror and be killed.

cainam, even though we have  more of a scientific know how on what chemical gets released where and when, i don't think it's fair to brush it off as being 'just science'.  maybe we'll never have machines or tests that will allow us to guage what's going on inside of us during meditation or projection.  if we did we wouldn't just start saying 'oh that's just science'.   we know where adreneline is produced and where it goes, blah blah blah.  we don't know how adreneline exists in the first place. we really only know some charecteristics of it.  it seems like as soon as we find out more about something we settle for that explanation.  i believe for every chemical reactin the body has there is another reaction somewhere else that we can't scientifically measure yet.  maybe in the astral, maybe in our energy body, who knows.  that could even be what tells the adreneline gland to secrete, or to tell the brain to tell the adreneline gland.

i believe anything is possible.  still it's hard for me to sit down and try and perform tk on a rock weighing five thousand lbs.  i feel that i can move the rock but maybe there is a part of me that still feels otherwise.  maybe that's why i can't move it.

maybe when you are in a situation that calls for something out of the ordinary to be done, that you fully believe that you can accomplish whatever is needed.  maybe it's mind over matter w/ the strong belief that it can be done. or maybe all of those people had a can of spinach in their shirt and they popped it out, opened it up w/ their pipes and took care of business.  :)

ok everyone has heard of people being put in a difficult life or death situation and all of a sudden using unbelievable talents or whatever u wanna call them to get out how does that work isnt that dealing with yur ki energy rising or what and if so then how can one tap into that so u can create the "unbelievable talents again without being in a life or death situation
