DAKAR (Reuters) - Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade must give curdled milk and cotton to the poor to ensure the national soccer team makes it to the 2006 World Cup finals, a traditional clairvoyant said.
"The head of state must make a sacrifice for 'The Lions' if he wants them to regain their old form," soothsayer Amy Faye told an annual "khoye" prediction ceremony in central Senegal.
"He must give four sachets of curdled milk to men and three to women," the state news agency APS on Thursday quoted her as telling the ceremony in the town of Fatick.
The West African country beat Congo 2-0 in its first World Cup qualifying match last Saturday. The side beat France 1-0 in a shock victory at the World Cup two years ago, but eventually lost in the quarter finals to Turkey.
Many rural communities in Senegal see the "khoye" ceremony as an important predictor of rainfall and harvests.
An adviser to the president declined to say if he would follow the psychic's advice.
