You are not alone. I love HP. I was so cynical about the whole thing at first, wouldn't read the books or have anything to do with it because I hated the hype. However, my sister bought the first book for herself and her daughter and one boring afternoon I started to read it. Well I couldn't put it down. Now I have all the books and I am hoping to see the movie before the end of June.
I think that the movie is probably more dark because the stories are getting darker as well. I think the first book or two was about discovery but now its more complex, less obvious. I read somewhere that Hermione lets Malfoy have it, can't wait. I am a bit like her in terms of personality so I identify with her.
I am guessing but I think that in the end that everyone comes back to life once Voldemort is dead and something to do with time. I think that Snape will finally get the Defense of Dark Arts job. Hermione and Weasley will finally get together and Potter will move on to become an - what did they call them - Auro-something.
So do you think it would be too weird if I, a 40 year old, went as a witch dressed up in Gryffindor colours to the cinema! [;)] I so wish Hogwarts was real.

I'm sure it has its own place in the astral somewhere [:)]
I saw the first movie, but i've never seen the rest of the movies, nor have i read the books. To be completely honest, i'm not really compelled to. The clips i've seen of the latest movie do look inviting, but still not something i would go to the cinemas to see. Still, it would probably be something i would enjoy at least.
I can't beleive they left so much out of the third movie, then tacked on that broomstick scene on the end to try and make up for the lost points... How do they ever expect to fit the next book into such a small time frame?

I heard the next one is going to be split into two movies...
Hey Manix,
Yes, I understand what you are saying, but I actually like the fact that this time they made a film BASED on the book and not just a movie that follows the book exactly. I understand that there are always many who want it to be as close to the original as possible, but often directors have to attend to the spirit of the film instad of just making a carbon copy...anyhow, I too wonder how they are going to pull off the other films. I am sure they are going to have to cut out a lot more of the rest of the books because don't they get progessively longer anyway?
They do seem to get longer with every book. They may have changed their minds and decided to do two films for the fourth movie. I haven't checked any of the information on it for at least 5 months, I simply recall an interview with the director saying he was making it in one film.
I don't mind if a film isn't exactly like a book, but there seemed to be so much info, crucial to the fourth books understanding, missing from the film. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm just considering the FUN details crucial LOL. Is it just me, or does the film seem to go extremly fast? Zip Zam Zoom and it's over.
Is it just me, or is the latest installment of the Potter series better than the first two? I only read the first novel, but now I've seen all three films. The first two were good, as is the third, but I think this latest film is the best of the three. It is directed by a different guy, Cuarzon or something, who isn't known for "kid's movies" and he really infused this with a lot more of a, well, compelling quality. Visually I thought the film was stunning, the plot is..well, just like all the Potter series, but the acting, sets, etc. were all very fun. The latest film is also much darker and brooding...and the special effects, while not hyper-realistic, are very fun and spectacular.
I recommend it and am anxious to see if I am the only Potter fan here in the forums, although I suspect I am not...although there are sure to be a few muggles out there!
