I can't help wondering, if through mistakes and roughhood we learn, then is it not our place to help asist or heal others? Does that rob them of their personal expiriences/lessons?
If then, what should we do?
What's your input?

I believe that giving someone a push or some help ocassionaly is just fine. You can't experience something for someone else, so it's not robbing them of an experience to help them achieve one. But that's just my own opinion.

Spiritual growth is entirely an individual and "selfish" thing, because you can only grow yourself.
You can't help grow someone else... they need to make their own choices to that end.

Through helping others, you can help yourself grow... and then further to the point, when you help yourself, you help the world grow.
But what determines whether the help you provide is good or bad for you spiritually depends upon the Intent behind why you're helping.

You can help someone with the goal being self-serving... OR
You can help someone with the goal of just helping because it's the right thing to do...

One is ACTING nice, the other is BEING nice.

Acting nice gets you nowhere.
Being nice grows you spiritually.

I think this is one of those times when you can't really speak in absolutes. There are many degrees and shades to this issue.

For instance, if it were totally counterproductive in all ways to help others, does that mean hospitals and doctors should all cease to be? For that matter, doesn't that mean that families should basically dissolve? That parents should leave their newborns outside after the first day?

Clearly all of those people and roles have a place, and there are very good reasons to help others at many times.

So I see it more as a judgement call, than a question of whether it was always good or always bad, because it isn't that simple. It is about balance.

Some of us are here to help others. But helping is as far as it goes. Everyone still has to put in the work themselves in order to really grow. We can simply give people the tools that they need in order to succeed.

If we adopt a general attitude of not helping people so they can learn their own lessons, the only lesson that they will learn is that the world is a cold cruel place where they'd better look out for number one because no one else cares enough to help them so why should they help any one else.  I don't think we want to help head the world in that direction more than it already is.

Helping people when we get the opportunity is important, IMO.  But HOW we help them is a judgement call.  It may be a situation where they need to do most or all of the work themselves in order to learn but we can be there to provide a kind word and encouragement.  Showing love is the most important thing.

Perhaps "helping someone" is a bit too direct of a term... maybe "guiding" people?

If I put my hand into a fire it'd do serious damage. Yep I'd only do it once. If I saw you about to do the same, I should.
1 Watch you get burned?
2 Show my hand and tell you its a bad move?

Some experiences teach valid lessons. These should be taught to prevent the error recurring.
I'm sure you'd answer with 2.

Now, has your question been answered?
