G,day Amcturbo

I'm not sure about the energy side of things with restless leg syndrome, but I do know what helps as I have this problem myself,& have had since I was about 15. I know what the sleepless nights are like just turning over & over, stretching the legs in bed, enormous tension there & just generally a very tight feeling in the legs.

I found that doing stretches before bed really helps. Either stretches used in karate (such as taekwondo) or yoga stretches work well. One of the best ones which the doctor told me to do, which is also used in karate, is to lay on your back with one leg down flat & the other leg is lifted by you. That is, you lift your wifes leg in the air as high as it will go,without over stretching it & tearing a muscle.

I do stretches every night now regardless of if I feel my legs are tense or not & if I still feel that I'm going to have a rough night with it, I take Quinine, which is pretty rarely & not sure if your wife could use it because of the baby.

Accupuncturists sell this disgusting tasting powder that also works well, but is a little expensive, although natural.

Good luck mate

Something else you can try...

If she sleeps on her back, put a couple of pillows under her knees so her knee joints are elevated about 10-12 inches..  That always helped me and at times, I still sleep this way.  It's actually quite comfortable.

I remember feeling that way too.

Sincerely,
Blossom

Hi all

I forgot something in my last post. When I was having a bad time with this also, I was told to put a block of camphor at the end of the bed under the sheets. I didn't get to try this out as the mrs didn't want the bed smelling like mothballs, hehe. So I'm not sure how effective it is or how it works.

Blossom, that's a good point the pillow thing. After I stuffed my back, physiotherapists told me that when I was sleeping on my back, put a pillow under my knees as this kept my spine flat. Which makes sense when you think about it. When you lie on your back without your knees elevated, you have an arch at the base of your spine, which doesn't do the spine much good. Also, I was told when I lay on my side, I should put a pillow between my knees as when you don't have a pillow there, your knees drop lower than normal which in turn puts pressure on your hips/pelvis. When you put a pillow between your legs your legs are parallel & there is no strain on the hips/pelvis.

This was hard for me to get used to but worth it. I laughed my head off when they told me to put a pillow between my legs, but after actually doing it, I don't laugh, it just sounds funny, but doesn't feel funny, feels great.

Good journeys all

Hi everyone,
My wife is currently 7.5 months pregnant and has developed quite an annoying bout of Restless Leg Syndrome, which is keeping her up most of the night, even if she's dead tired.  She is having gobs of energy twitching through her legs and isn't able to get rid of it.

What I would like to know is, if this is truly an energy imbalance in her energy field and if there are any recommended energy techniques either her or I could do to help "siphon" off this execess energy ... any recommendations are appreciated!

Thank you!

Cheers!
Greg Taylor :)
