Lately i have looked for patterns that form in my field of vision, they seem to appear before dream images form-they are real subtle but they seem to come while you are more awake.
So, uh, are hypnogogic images the same as dreams?
Or are they different?
The hypnogogic image are not dream yet but it can trap you into a dream. One moment you're pulled into it, the next thing you know you're dreaming. Usually what I do is just remain passive to the image (much like you see the image and said to yourself, oh how nice but remain unaffected by it). It's hard for me to explain actually but there must be something, just alittle bit something occupying your mind so that you remain in control.
Anyone can help further?
A good way to get through the hypnogogic stage would be to maintain a huge amount of concentration on one particular object (like your heartbeat). This is so that your body can completely fall asleep.
Hey all.
Hey Risu. I have a little experience with the hypnagogic imagery. You can try letting the images come forth, and rather than fighting it go into it, and they can take you into the astral plane. If you want to explore real-time, before they suck you into the astral or a dream, get up or roll to the side and that may get you out. Please let me know how it goes if you try these. It will help me too. [:)]
Thanks for the tips astralmaster and ame. Astralmaster, would you please share what happens as you do this, like when focus on your heartbeat until your body completely falls asleep to get through the hypnagogic?
Thanks, and I hope my tip helps. I look forward to your replies.

Ok, so, like, I've gotten to the point where I can relax and get into the hypnogogic (or whichever the one you see when drifting off) images.
However, the images slowly come forth, and begin to turn into a dream. I start losing awareness, and whenever it comes back, I become aware of my body.
Could anyone give me some pointers on how to not become lost in the hypnogogic images? Because, at the point I'm at now, it's more like a dream where I'm semi aware.
The other day I realized in the image that it wasn't real, and I tried to control it, but that didn't work. :(
