Hey there....

I just wanted to let you know that I moved your topic from the "OBE Discussions" forum to the "Astral Chat" forum, because I think it goes better here.  Let me know if you disagree.

Anyway, I can totally relate to what you're saying.  Over the last few years, I have developed a severe (and I do mean severe) phobia when it comes to flying.

Basically, to put things bluntly, I freak out on planes.  Not only that, but every plane trip I take is WORSE than the last, meaning that the last time I have been on a plane has always been the worst experience in flying.

The last time I was on a plane was 4+ months ago when I flew back from Hawaii, and I literally freaked out....started hyperventilating, made other passengers turn and look at me, etc.  It was humiliating.

I don't know WHY this is....I think something must have happened to me in a plane in another life at a certain age....because when I was younger, I never had a problem with planes.  The older I get, though, the more my a** likes to stay on the ground, know what I'm saying?

To this day, my wife and I have minor arguments over the fact that she wants to vacation in places across the country, and I tell her to have fun without me.

yeah i totally can relate, when I was younger, even going back to only 4-5 years ago i wasnt really weary of flying at all, but the last plane trip i went on freaked me out, i think it was mainly because of bad turbulence. this is also going to sound strange but i had a premonition about it also... but it ended on a cliffhanger so i thought i was going to die, but obviously didnt. The whole experience put me off flying again, and it seems the longer i leave it the worst i  get. Thing is I really really wan to travel but this is just driving me nuts!

Been scouring the net for free hypnosis MP3's or anything, but no luck yet.

Maybe you should try Hypnosis.  It might help you to find the root of your fear and overcome it.

Many airlines offer seminars to people who are afraid to fly.

I have flown probly 100 times or so, and for awhile I was developing a fear of flying. I would always think that sometimes planes go down, and that as much as I ride them its a good chance I would be on one of those planes.
I would build up this fear so much that I almost quit flying altogather. Well I am over that now.. not sure how I did it, the best I could say would be to just be chill about it. The chances of your plane actually crashing is very little, your actually more likely to die on the way to the airport then you are actually when your in the plane it self.
Hope this helps some...

Yeah, people tell me this all the time, to try and make me feel better.  However, the one thing about phobias is that they don't really make sense.

I also try and tell myself, "Jeff, if God thinks your time is up, then he can take you right now if He wants.  When it's your time, then it's your time, and there is nothing you can do about it."

However, even THAT doesn't reassure me.  Why?  Because it's a phobia.  The more I get on planes, the more I hate them, and the more scared I get with each passing plane trip.

Yea thats a good point.. I have a bug phobia, its the worst for spiders, but all bugs in general make me squirm... kinda funny, but phobias still suck.

I was thinkin about this in the car coming back from work, and i agree. In my mind i know that its the safest form of travel and you are more likely to die in a car accident or walking down a street than in a plane, and everything else that is so true about flying, but even when i tell myself over and over, but im still controlled by some total overwealming irrational fear. I dont need telling how safe it is because  in my head i know it!  its just this stupid irrational fear which i need to sort.

Aries

Well thats why phobias suck, I am sure there is a way to get over it... maybe sky diving??

LOL maybe but how do i get up there in the first place [:P]

Aries

Hmmm... good question. Just carry a parachoote with you when ever you go on a plane ride, then you know if it crashes you can just jump out.

For going sky diving.. dunno. Sorry.. [:D]

Hi everybody, sorry if this seems a bit off topic in this forum but as i find this a very helpful place not only for OBE but for many different aspects of life i thought i might as well gvie this a go :)

Basically over the past 5 years I seem to have delevloped a profound fear of flying & it has got to the point where even thinkin about getting on a plane sends me woozy :P
Its really begining to annoy me now as its affecting me from going on holidays/visiting freinds etc. I know im not crazy, and im definately dont need a shrink, but have been wondering what alternative techniques could help me. Im wondering about self-hypnosis/meditation and was wondering if anyone has used these in the past or have any suggestions?

Again sorry its a bit off topic but I know you guys will be helpful (i hope!)

Cheers
Rob
