Hi, I am an overweight person by about 2 stone and I find it impossible to get rid of the many years of brainwashing and conditioning by ad's on tv and sugar cravings. I got a hypnotize book with a tape used them, along with much other stuff (not pills, etc mind you) and it didn't work, it feels like the conditioning by the ad's is so embedded in me it is literally impossible to get it out, I always get cravings when I see a food.
Are there many ways mentally to completely remove this, and for me to have control over my mind and put in positive stuff instead of highly negative?
Seek a professional not the dabblers here.
Hi:
Donal, up until a short time ago (4 days) I would spend up to 60+ hours a week watching television, and I am on the cusp of being down-right skinny.
Seriously, it's only a problem for you because you believe it to be one (you're essentially blaming your weight issues on something else to avoid taking responsibility IMHO.) Therefore you can eat, and not feel guilty about it. Like I said, I have no personal experience.
The fact you went as far as to try to "hypnotize"yourself leads me to think that you believe ALL your weight problems are due to TV ad's.
I bet you, that if you asked 100 overweight people why they eat too much, you'd be lucky to hear one person respond "it's those blasted TV ads!"
It's all in your head! :-)
What I suggest is finding a message board where overweight people discuss their struggles with food. It would do you a world of good to see for yourself that you're actually in the tiny minority, and most would switch "reasons" with you in a heartbeat! You're one of the "lucky" ones!!!
Good luck and I hope that helps!
I read a book called Slim 4 Life and the author explaiined that the advertisers try to sell you happiness by portaying happy people while eating this junk food, and other means. You watch an ad once or twice, then you don't really consciously think when you see the ad again, ie you "turn off". This is when the ad registers in your subconscious. The book says your happiness comes from your subconsicious and it then think you can get happines from buying this sort of food. even though on a conscious level you now food doesn't bring happiness.
Also, junk food contains white sugar. This stuff goes straight through your stomach and into your blood stream in like 7 minutes. Because there is so much sugar, you'll die if your blood sugar level goes up or down a bit, the pancreas produces insulin to combat the amount of sugar, to regulate your blood sugar level. The release of insulin is the "high" you get when you eat junk food. Now, because there was no nutrition in the sugar (white sugar is PURE energy, it's has no nutrition at all) your blood sugar levels drop a fair bit (not to a fatal level) and this registers as an empty feeling within you. This is almost the exact same feeling as real hunger, thus people think they are hungry again after eating junk food! The vicious cycle gets worse as more insulin is needed to regulate the blood sugar level. The author called white refined sugar the cocaine of the food world.
Well I will tell you what I told my brother...I've never heard of anyone getting fat from eating salads. Although this is dabbling I think a doctor would agree

The free manual might help you.
You have a choice not to eat junk food. Its not that comercials can force you to eat junk food, you choose it.
in my oppinion you should stop blameing the TV ad's and do it yourself. thats it. so what if its tough, thats the way it should be. not enough things are tough enough today so we make ourselves think they are tough cause we are guilty of our insanly easy lives. if you want to stop eating junk, don't buy it! don't blame the problem on subliminal messages

I second this.
By using EFT you might discover on the way of eliminating your craving for food that it might only be the top of a series of other issues you might have never imagined to be related to it. Be persistent!
