Hi people I know im only new but I thought a thread on how people became interested in astral projection would be informative and interesting. What was the experience you had that made you intreagued to learn more.I guess this would act as a kind of faq for newbies like myself by discusing  early experiences before you new what they where and what led you to where you are now.

Stookie

To keep it very simple, I had some questions burning my brain that my religious belief system couldn't answer, and went searching. The world has become a lot bigger for me, and I don't feel as confined, but I'm still searching. I have some better ideas though...

for me, it was acquaintances who told me about astral projection when I was younger, although it was a hard slog finding information on how to do so as there was no internet to speak of then and bookshops had few books on the subject
I sometimes wonder how I would have turned out if noone had mentioned it

I started off much more like stookie above (hey stookie, I thought you were telling my story! lol).  Basically I'm constantly looking for new challenges and changes in my life so I'm always on a learning path (in other words, I get bored easily).  I went through the New Age stuff pretty quickly, read the books, attended the seminars, did the courses etc etc.  Then I was up for my next challenge.  I had known about AP for a while (approx 3 years), since I was handed a leaflet at an exhibition, after which I attended an open day.  I must say I wasn't all convinced at the open day - guess I wasn't ready for it then!  However, at the beginning of this year, I decided to go further in my personal development as I needed something new, i.e. other than courses on psychic ability, reincarnation, meditation etc, all of which I have already done.  So when I ruled out everything, I was left with AP.  I took the plunge and got booked on the first module at the IAC.  Wow, it blew me away - everything that I've ever wanted to know about, and more.  Now I've done all 4 modules, had two amazing OBEs and some interesting experiences during and after energy exercises.  I'm on a wonderful journey, still have a lot of ground to cover, and I'm very much up for it.

sorry I got carried away, good question, thanks for asking.

drawn to it, picked up some books on an author from the 50s or 60s Robert Monroe and then some others.

I have always been a curious person by nature, which is why I seemed to be initially drawn to metaphysics in general.  The idea of so much in the world that I had never really before been aware of was an amazing concept.  I began reading a good bit about various parts of metaphysics, some I got interested in others I never really took to.  Astral projection was one of the many things I learned a little about, and one of the things I felt motivated to learn.  :-D.  It was my curiosity and love of discovering new things that drew me toward it I think because of the possibilities.
