its nice to share humor with people...i understand that. but when that humor is gained at anothers expense....really, mustardseed, there are so very many unsaid assumptions within the subtext of your "joke" that it really is disgusting. maybe on a conscious level, you meant no harm nor offense, but please think about this...that what you stated in essence, is that because many people of african descent within the united states speak in a manner indicative of illiteracy and ignorance; and the joke is that they are even "non-divine" because there is a link(within the context of the assumptions of the joke)between their(as a stereotyped "black" people)ignorance and how they are unlike God. I can totally dig really intense religious jokes, jokes about death, maiming, torture...hell, I can have a really dark sense of humor when I choose...but IMHO it is intelligent. Humor that pokes fun of stereotypes by creating a context in which that stereotype is exemplified by a character within the joke is quite fine....but the joke you told there is no context but to indicate by induction that blacks are not like god. let me know what you think, namaste

The South american thinks hard. Well body in South America our women can sit on a barstool and their feet touch the ground no problem, and its not cause we have low barstools, but our women have such slender long legs.
The european thinks very hard takes a swallow of beer and says. Well when we go to work in the morning we slap our women in their behind with affection and when we come home its all still vibrating, and its not course our women have fat behinds but we're in the union and have a very short workday.

So there I did one about myself is that better or will I have to outlaw all jokes about peinguins dogs cats horses barkeepers whites blacks latins women men .

It's like you want to feel offended. I had a similar version of Mustardseed's joke told to my by a person of the "dark skinned" persuasion. He thought it was a great joke! It's like the best Irish jokes I've heard were told to me by an Irishman! I love hearing a good Aussie joke and I don't feel offended by them because I recognise them as being an exageration of stereotypes.

ALL humor and comedy is at someone elses expense. Think about every joke or every visual gag you've ever seen. There is always someone on the recieving end. Its the way humor works.

Come to think of it though I never thought of god as(Politicaly Correct) African-American or(Politicaly Correct) Caucasian I always thought of him as an entity, a being of light. ] Seriously though, please accept my apologies for being so aggressive, I certainly could have expressed my views with a bit more clarity. As far as that goes, I don't agree with any of you. For me, it is not a matter of "political correctness"...the use of such a term is part and parcel of the kind of socialized and conditioned relating that we all participate on one level of conscious awareness or on levels of subsconscious motivation. These levels of imprinting run far deeper that most people are aware of. And Shadow, being african-american really doesn't mean much to me. And that is the point, it really didn't have much to do with race per se, that caught my attention, and I am very serious in saying that it is very possible that I would not have decided anything was there to see if the joke was told in a different way. What got to me was, it seemed to me, and still very much does, is the extreme unawareness of the contexts....how things relate and connect....No hard feelings I hope? Namaste Ya'll [

Yeah, everything is funny "but" . . . .none of the black people I have ever known - - seriously, I mean this - - - ever spoke this way. Not even the ones who don't speak English very well - - actually, the overseas blacks seem to speak the Kings English much better than I do.

So not only was it supposed to be a racist joke, I didn't even GET IT.

I could've posted something showing why it's necessary to show empathy to others. I don't think it would've worked.

I'm white, and skin color does not determine who we give compassion to and who we don't. Some people are sensitive to "politically incorrect jokes" because no one takes their suffering or indiginity seriously...just a big joke.

The suffering of another person and their need for respect is not a joke, and I am not laughing.

Thank you for showing me that most of you are White for more than a Day.

How is it everyone is so worried about offending non-yellows?
I mean seriously people racism is racism regardless of teh victims color. fat,beer guzzling,yellow people are human too regardless of how we feel about them!
I will also point out that it is not the majority of yellow people that are oppressors. Most have families, jobs, dreams, etc that matter to them and are struggling the same way that purples, greens, blues, are in this world that can't seem to handle a rainbow of cultures.

No offense to anyone that stated otherwise, but steriotypes exist because a vast majority of a race or religion has done something so damn stupid and stuck to the steriotype, or continue to support it, that people will steriotype FIRST as a result.

I don't steriotype anymore personally after a weird encounter with a religious black man. Steriotyping doesn't make you a racist/anti-sematic/sexist/ect, it makes you ignorant to the fact NOT all people are alike.

Humor is of course a matter of perspective, as most things are in the context of being human. I don't laugh at many jokes myself, it needs to be a real rib splitter before I'll even chuckle a bit.

I hate political corectness too. It's actually the opposite of what it's meant to be, as is affirmative action, etc. Anything race based (or gender, etc) is just stupid and doesn't belong in politics, it belongs in a catalog of common sense.

Simply think of what you say before you say it. If you think it will offend after some consideration, REWORD it! Gods! You can say anything to anyone without being insulting, it's all in the wording.

While we're on the PC topic...sorta...I find the whole xxxxxx-American thing to be COMPLETELY stupid. Most Americans are mutts. I am....however I am American FIRST. I allow NOBODY to tag me with a prefix to the title "American". It's nice to be able to trace your geneology back to another (or several) countries, and in many cases it's a big part of you culturally, but it makes no difference at all what color you are, what gender you are....if you are American, say you're American.

Finally, one should never be offended by another's ignorance...take it for what it is, let them know their ignorance is hanging out, and move on.[
