I'm a writer, and I've had forums in the past, but lately I'm all on Facebook. Coming back to a forum, this one, reminds me just how different the experience is. You can do so much more with a forum, and members can do so much more in them. I'm overwhelmed. I really like forums, but they move slower than Facebook, and yet they are more permanent and useful than Facebook. I feel like someone who's eaten McDonald's for six months and now I'm addicted to fast food.

I'm not complaining. I love it in here. I hate Facebook. I just have to re-adjust. I'm overwhelmed, but in a good way.

I thoroughly enjoy both platforms.  :)

ahh my husband writes cosmic fiction and has quite a few non fiction publishings. I'm working on my first non fiction. ( he's editing and adding some material )  Facebook forums are difficult to follow you can't have multiple topics running and find them easily.

I like Both! Although this forum is seems full of nice people. I've been on forums before and individuals can be a bit nasty just to get a rise out of people.
It's......serene here!

Yes, it's great that the forum is attracting people who just want to learn, share and grow together.  The ones who want to get a rise out of people and argue for arguments sake just visit briefly-then fade away when they realize no fuel will be added to their fire.  And the ones that don't fade away so easily... we have the long standing mods. (not me) to thank for cleaning house!  It's kind of a dirty job and they are very dedicated and good at what they do.  A big thanks to them and to all of you who make the Pulse a safe and encouraging place to learn.  :)

I deactivated my facebook last week. Couldn't take it anymore.

Yes Soarin12 it is very much the work of the moderators that keeps topics informative and debateable rather than childish arguments. And I thank you all for that. So far I have only come across a couple of instances in which an individual seemed to want to antagonise. They just get shot down in flames!

That is EXACTLY what I love to hear about the Astral Pulse!
Much appreciated!

I was just thinking a minute ago while browsing new posts, "Why is this forum so peaceful and cooperative?  Have the trolls not found it yet?"   :-D

Things were rowdier in the past here (people experimenting with channeling information through pendulum and then telepathically and posting answers, and arguing about whether it was from aliens or this or that, and the occasional religious argument) but still I don't remember anyone cussing at other people or anything like that ever happening here.  Maybe because to be interested in astral realms you have to have a certain level of discipline and maturity in the first place.  It makes these forums very attractive.

It may be off topic and maybe we can talk over private message or something Xanth, I'm kind of out of the loop.  I know Robert Bruce left this forum a while ago to start another one, and I was still coming fairly regularly when people started asking "Where's Frank?", but I must have missed Adrian disappearing.  It makes no difference since the forum is still in good hands, it's just curious how this forum seems to have changed hands a couple of times but fortunately for humanity it hasn't gone anywhere.  :)

The forum has seen it's fair share of miscreants.  :)

It's forum history.  Always relevant.  :)

Adrian and Robert Bruce started the forums together, but they were always owned by Adrian.  There was a falling out at some point, and Robert left.  I honestly don't know much of the nitty gritty details, but I'm sure you can find many opinions online somewhere, but not here.  That part isn't relevant anymore as it's history between Adrian and Robert.  Frank disappearing was a blip on the radar, that's for sure.  Nobody TRULY knows what happened.  I've heard rumours over the years, but nothing substantial.  As for Adrian, he's still around... and he still works on the Astral Pulse in the background keeping things going... that dude works tirelessly for little to no acknowledgment.  He definitely deserves more.  :)

So, as we stand right now, Adrian still fully owns the Astral Pulse... but as I said, he kind of runs it in the background now that he can't be here as often as he would like.  Myself and the mod team just help keep the place running smoothly.  My only edict being that people need to learn to respect the beliefs of others if they're to remain here.  It's honestly not much to ask...  LoL

Other than that, post and be merry.  :)

Thanks for the response. :)

I wasn't quite 15 years old when I started posting here, and now I'm closer to 27 and I think I'm beginning to sense a real generational change.  When I first started posting here it seemed like a mostly older crowd.  Robert Bruce was pushing 50, Frank was an older guy, most people posting seemed like they were at least in their 30s and there were a lot of world travelers and a lot of Europeans.  Now I get the feeling like most active members are younger, have probably grown up with the Internet, and there really seems to be a little more peace and openness towards subjects that used to draw more controversy, even when there are still differences of opinion.  I may be mistaken but I think even Frank used to deride people who talked about extraterrestrial life.  If Adrian still reads the forums regularly it'd be interesting to see if he's noticed anything like this.

You do well done!

In reference to further posts on this topic, I've not been around enough to know the site history and it's unfortunate there has been fallings out between founder members.
In terms of heated debates I've read a few but not noticed anything getting too personal.

It's nice to read a good comment on how smooth things still are.
The Pulse was the best and thats why I signed up a few years ago. There was too much ' my way or the highway' on others and I wasn't letting go of around 50 years of experiences  to someone with  book read knowledge and nothing experiential to back them up.
