Quick question...

When does yesterday begin for you?

AAAAAAAA

The second to last time from now that it was 12:00AM.

Intellectually, I can see that.

But in practice, is that REALLY how you use the term "yesterday"?

If at 12:01AM, do you speak about something that happened a couple minutes prior as happening "yesterday"?

It's just an honest question... and one which is open to everyone.  I'm just curious when "yesterday" happens for people.

LucidlyAstral

Technically right after 12 AM, but IMO "yesterday" means whatever happens before I get a good nights sleep.

Steelflame

Yeah, same for me. I usually think of yesterday as the time before I went to sleep. Unless I only got an hour or so of sleep, in that case the days sort of blend together.

Xanth is enjoying the uh fruits and flowers of his garden I see.    The time I was awake before the last time I was asleep.  Depends on if I'm on day or backshift.

Hee hee, when they play John Lennons' masterpiece.

What is today if yesterday's tomorrow?

I count myself fairly closely with the others. I call yesterday what happened before the people around me awoke from their sleep. Unless I haven't slept in a while myself, then I forget and start to call the time before I myself slept yesterday. If I am speaking with people from far away places, such as now, the concept of yesterday ceases to have meaning, and I speak of calender dates instead.

I think we are suffering some sort of Zen Ko'an here, lol.

What do you call yesterday Xanth, and why?
