Mm if I had 1 Billion Dollars, I would.....
(10 Thing's I would do)
-Buy a few Mansions all across the world.
-Built a few skyscrapers around the world.
-Give 300 million to my family.
-Give 200 million to the poor (Africa)
-Sky Dive from an airplane
-Go on trips all across the world to see the beauty of nature.
-Buy many many cars (Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porch, Infiniti, Bmw, etc. )
-Go Live in Dubai for a few years.
-I always wanted to come out of a Lamborghini with very cheap and torn clothes.
-To find my "oneness" with God.
I'd make sure my family and friends were taken care of.
Then live a very comfortable life practicing my spirituality. :)
I own BMWs, have sky dived from planes, seen the beauty of nature, seen Dubai (nice, wouldn't want to live there)... all for a hell of a LOT less than a billion.
Why mansions? One mansion will surely be enough? Why 200 million for the poor Africans? I am from Africa... and money wont solve Africa's problems, trust me on that one.
You really don't need money to find "one-ness" with anything. In fact, having lots of money will most likely be a hindrance in that area... judging from your list.
But hey I don't want to judge... so here is what Id do:
I would set up a research lab to study friendly AI and other intelligence enhancing technologies, advance cheap space tourism and also nanotechnology applications for the betterment of mankind. Ending the unhealthy addictions of economic resource scarcity would be one of the lofty goals... hey, if you gonna throw money around... Not sure of a billion will be enough. :-D
You could probably build maybe 2 sky scrapers with the 500 million left over from the giving, and that would exclude other pursuits.
And money would probly make Africa worse off, I agree. Africa's issue are all social and governmental- there is no cultural unity, and this leads to so many facitons preying on the slightly smaller ones around them. If there were some sort of stabilizing influence, the problems would go away on their own.
I do like the Hobo-in-the-lambo idea though :wink:

I just wanna kinda point out that he asked what *YOU* would do with $1 billion... not cut down all the things that he would do. ;)

Ehh...I use The Law Of Attraction when I need money, but I think that this is how i "written my script".
I can't find myself in that posture of having 1 billion $.But I know that I would use them wisely... I hope. :-)

I can't pinpoint everything I do but my ambitions would be the same, just extremely amplified from what they are now seeing as I would be able to do literally -everything- within reason, obviously.
I would give my family and closest friends what they wanted and help to sort out their problems best I could, not -always- throwing money at them...
I would make sure, above all my family life a relatively normal childhood, as they grew up I would not tell them of our riches and live in an average house, I'd want them to go to average schools and appreciate money and people and what they have so they grow up as normal people having to work for what they get. -Then- after I'm sure they are down to Earth, happy and very nice people I would reveal my secret to them.
Other than that, who knows? Honestly I haven't a clue, there are millions perhaps billions of things I could do.
I'd make a bonfire.
