Focusing Energy Toward a Goal

The ability to focus ones energy toward a goal, or making something happen is within all of us, obviously. So, I do that alot using Music as stimulation for whatever I'm trying to make happen.
 I'm in my final year in Middle School (8th), so naturally, there's a few people who are total pricks. One of them has decided to start a very nasty rumor about me, because he THINKS that he knows something about me which is very untrue. I just focused to largest amount of energy I ever have towards him shutting his mouth, and respecting me more. So, was it wrong to do that?

Don't sweat it, don't waste your time getting all worked up just tell him to stop and if he doesn't so what. Your friends don't really believe him do they?
