Does anyone have an IRC channel set up for real-time chatting?

Its a very easy to thing to do. All we need to do is find a server we like and put a channel on it. Most servers will host the channel for free, and let us moderate it.

You world normally need an irc client such as mirc, chatzilla or xchat, but we could even create a link to click that would load the chatroom in a java applet.

I added a channel on freenode.net (sortof free guru network) since there was nothing already.
