Yeah, that's what I initially thought when I read that particular post as well.
Even moderators can be biased... yes, they try not to be, but it can happen.

How does one increase their karma here? what does karma suppose to mean here?

Reputation should only be given out by Mods or other such people in a position of power who can be relied upon to give accurate readings... if it were to be used at all 

I wasn't able to give karma until i had 50 posts i think, may have been less. So far I've only given one +karma i think and no smites.

No, I think the point is so people can see who the majority of members tend to like/agree with or not. In a way it works, but there is also mob mentality. If someones points are dropping fast it means several people are doing it, as a single person can only do it once every 100 hours. That pretty much negates conspiracies regarding Karma too. I've modded this place for long enough to know there are not any behind-the-scenes groups or conspiracies, no one saying "let's smite over and over". If there are, I'm out of the loop.

I'd like to see them done with. Until then, POST HERE FOR A KARMA POINT!

  I haven't even peeked into the forum for quite some time, and of course I peeked today because Astral Pulse popped into my head.  I had a right good chuckle to see the karma system being questioned again.  I didn't care for it when it was first introduced and still do not understand the usefulness of it.

Yeah, no one has mentioned Karma in a long time, but disagreements have been happening, so points have been dropping. That's when you start to notice them .

I am still in the same area, but moved into a new home, which has been a blessing. And overall, especially with the recent weather, life has been grand. If I'm not working my butt off, I'm relaxing. Doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

I noticed that things have livened up a bit here since I left.    I like a good lively discussion and I've noticed that the number of people coming to AP lately, as risen.  Well done!
