This is cheaper ---> http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0684814382/qid=1063243256/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-3054537-6903310?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 but requires more work on your part.

And if I would actually stick with it my eyesight would be a lot better I am sure. I found slight improvement with slight amount of practice, so I figure a lot of improvement is possible with a lot of practice. You know the funny thing, I sort of stopped doing it, not because I thought it would not work but because I was afraid it would work too well. I can not afford to buy new glasses/contacts every few months as my eyes improve. LOL Silly of me really, but I was afraid of how it would turn out. I suggest you read this book first, reguardless of what you plan on doing because it is a good read for anyone with eyesight problems.

But if you insist on the surgery, I have not had it done but everyone I have talked to said they are very happy and glad they had it done. Prices vary I am sure. I have not heard any recent prices but I know awhile back you could expect to pay a few thousand dollars to have both eyes done.

My mother had it done about a year ago. It cost about £6000. She was in agony the first few nights.. but she can see perfectly now. [:)]

In 1997, after having been extremely nearsighted for decades, I had it done. There was a need for an "enhancement" as they call it (a fine tuning) a few months later. However, there are absolutely no regrets whatsoever. It was the best use of my money ever.

Today, six years later, I still go without glasses (at all times) and am very thankful that I was able to afford the procedure. PW, if you want to PM or email me I'll be glad to go into detail. My procedure was done in Ventura County, however several friends of mine had it done in Orange County (and I think another in North San Diego County).

Nick, if it does not bother you to do so, I (and probably others on the forum) would appreciate it if you would post the more detailed version here. And if you do not mind telling, about how much did you pay for it?

The best way of giving detail is to provide the website of the physician that I went to. If you read it over, you will have a lot of questions answered. As pertains to me, I had Lasik in the left eye and RK in the right. Also, I had an astigmatism before surgery. The end result was to have something called monovision whereby I do not need reading glasses. That called for 20/20 vision in my left eye (because the doctor determined it was my "dominant" eye) and 20/60 in my right (for reading purposes as I'm middle-aged and presbyopia had set in). What is amazing is I never notice any vision difference in distance or reading unless I close one eye. All of the specifics are covered in the doctor's website re what monovision is, and about all of the various procedures.

His office was (and still is), fortunately, very close to where I work and live in Ventura. Since I work for the County, I was given a discount. The end cost was $3100. total. I understand it costs more today, so I am grateful I did it then.

Thank you for sharing.

They say the price has gone up since you had it done?? From what I have heard the price has slowly dropped a little over the past few years here. Though I have not personally checked, but I talked to a few people who have looked into it. It seems to be a lot cheaper in TN, though I am sure it probably depends on the person's problem. I think the last person I talked to said it would cost around $1,200 per eye.

I have decided to start following the exercises again for a few months and see if it helps. Got to stick with it this time.

PeacefulWarrior, have you been to a doctor about this yet? Or are you just getting ideas first?

I was just thinking, what do you do about your driver's license when you no longer need any kind of corrective lenses? Do you just walk in and tell them to take that restriction off because you have been healed?

I wear glasses/contacts and am planning on getting laser eye surgery done.  Has anyone here got it done?  If so, how much did you pay and how was it?  Do you see great? etc.
