Sorry, I accidentally removed the Right Brain Exercises topic because I was trying to upload a larger embedded photo of my first paining and I created a duplicate of the topic, then when I removed it, but it was all gone. I can't figure out how to upload a large photo, so I am uploading from my comp. If you click on it it will enlarge.
But this is from my first lesson. If you can recognize what this is, then maybe there is hope for me to learn how to draw/paint. This is a monochromatic oil painting. To critique my paining, I think I blended the shadows within the pears too much.
I can tell what they are!
Of course there's hope for you, art isn't about "correct format." :-)
Thank you for sharing ~
What beautiful pears, Lightbeam! I can't even believe you're telling me you're a beginner; this seems advanced to me. I loved it! :-)
Don't worry about deleting the other thread. But I completely understand drawing with the right side of your brain because I have a book dedicated to it.
I will follow your advice and do the exercises. I feel like the years are going by, and I haven't done what I want to do in a long time. I was always afraid of frustration, but art is about expressing yourself and having fun, no matter what other people think. It's like an active meditation, as you've described before.
Congratulations, and keep sharing your art! We'd love to see your progress here. :-D
When I upload a large image, what I do is upload it to Pinterest first, because I have an account there, and then I right-click the photo and click "copy image address" and insert it into the post.
Thank you, Tak, it worked with Pintrest! Thank you, Tides for the kind words! :)
Tak, if you didn't have a chance to see my reply on the previous topic where you uploaded your art, It is absolutely amazing. You have a natural talent! Please use it. If you want go on youtube and find videos from the Milan Art Institute. I signed up with them for the beginner lessons. The founders are a family of artists who make their living only by selling art all over the world. They even teach their students how to market their art, find dealers, get into galleries. Many of their students actually become full time artists and make a very good living. I wasn't drawn to it for the money, but it will be a nice bonus if I become any good and try to sell. That would be fun. They have free videos on techniques, tips and tricks what is sellable, what styles, color pallets are most desirable, they have contests between the students and the family members and they are very fun to watch. Check out their eldest daughter Dimitra Milan's art. It's absolutely stunning!

Fine art has never been an interest of mine generally, but to me, considering you are only just beginning your art adventure LB, your painting looks like a really great start. I feel that art, like life generally, especially nature and beautiful things, should be viewed with the Heart, not just with the eyes. How does it feel deep within, not simply how does it "look" with the organic eyes, to the judgement of the ego.
Over 20 years ago, I discovered the paintings on a website of a young 8 years of age girl, Akiane Kramarik. Although I have never been at all interested in fine art, I was absolutely amazed by her paintings at such a young age, and the very high energy and other-worldliness associated with them. It was when she was 8 that she painted her most famous work depicting Jesus, which she called "The Prince of Peace". Even more amazing she wrote beautiful and Spiritual poems for each painting. Akiane often said that Jesus came to her when she was very young to tell her of what she would soon be doing for the benefit of humanity. Later she said:
"God was waiting for me to grow so I could fully understand and paint the most powerful message to mankind. The message of Unwavering Faith, Unconditional Love and Eternal Life"
This is Akiane's online art gallery, which has since received over 1 billion views.

If you scroll down through the page you can see her paintings by age including, at the age of 8, The Prince of Peace.
Beautiful art, Adrian! Thank you for sharing! I think when enter as characters, we keep certain channels open with certain knowledge that aligns with what characteristics we have chosen. And that applies to the so called "natural talents". Some knowledge and talents may arise in the middle of a "lifetime" play.
I feel like I am aligning knowledge/skills now from the artist version of me. :) Everything is available of course, and it depends what we get drawn to, then we start aligning.
Akiane is a remarkable person in many ways, and very Spiritually advanced as is evident from her writing as well as depicted in her art, which is inspired and from the Heart. She is almost certainly one of many Spirits on Earth now, and were here in the past, Jesus for example, who's Higher Self transcended its incarnational phase aeons ago, but chose to come to Earth in physical form, out of service to the Whole, in order to help guide and uplift humanity in many ways during these current pivotal, transitional times. Here is a link to an interview with her which provides many insights into who Akiane is and early life:

Also here is a video of Akiane painting a work entitled "The Light". Her painting is greatly speeded up but also includes a dialogue - this is well worth watching to see her painting and own insights.

Yes absolutely. As all of the numerous concurrent incarnations of a High Self would be experiencing the entire spectrum of life situation possibilities, children born as "prodigies" may either be in the same category as for example Akiane, or it is entirely possible, as you say, that one incarnation is experiencing a "cross connection" with another with that same prodigious ability. For example, a child born with prodigious abilities with a musical instrument, may be connecting, via the Higher Self, with an incarnation that is a virtuoso musician with the same instrument.
Hey LB,

Oh, haha, this is such a funny synchronicity, Tides! Thanks for sharing!
The interpretations are definitely relevant to me for this now.
Here are two drawings and a strawberry oil painting from the last few lessons.

Wow, impressive artwork LB. You seem to have a natural ability for this.
Quote from: Adrian on August 10, 2025, 03:09:52You seem to have a natural ability for this.
But that's the thing, Adrian, I did not have a "natural" talent. I have tried before. When I had that sudden impulse to paint a few months ago, I said to myself "ok, I am going to put random colors and shapes on a canvas, because I can't draw realism and will see what happens". This time I was more open to believe that I can, although the evidence from before suggested that I can not. So, I followed this impulse to see where it leads me, I made my art studio and bought my supplies before I even picked up the brush to start trying again. I saw myself as the artist who can. My sister even said yesterday "Who are you? lol, because she knows what I can and can not do as she grew up with me.
I think it's important to follow desires and impulses to see where they lead us, and believe that there is a reason and that we can uncover something "new" that we never thought possible. This proves that out chosen "theme characters" are just general sketches, and once we are in in, there is so much we can do with that base. We just have to believe, follow and take actions.
LB your artwork is very beautiful. So much talent. Latent talent is still talent. Look at the two words.
Keep at it! Art is great therapy for me. Drawing simple shapes is how we start out. I love your strawberry!
Thank you, Nameless and Jen! I had to work on the strawberry a few times because I really wanted to make it juicy looking, and I finally succeeded :)
Yes, these are simple shapes. I hope with time to move to complex paintings.
Nameless, my sister used exactly the phrase latent talent when she saw my first paining of the pears :)
