Adding the two digits of a number together and substracting that from the number will always give you a multiple of 9 :)

nevermind it makes perfect sense to me now. at first I was stumped how the 90 and 99 were different until I realized to get those as your answers your digit would be of three not 2 while all the other possiblities like kiwibonga mentioned are the same symbol. pretty smart.
