Meeting people interested in OBE

Because this topic of OBE and AP is a hard topic to speak with to some people I am wanting to find and make some new friends. Where are some good places to meet people who are opened minded to these ideas?

They are truly hard to find! The best place I have around here costs about $50 a month to join (unless you consider the $100 a month to join the Kung Fu club which teaches 'hidden skills' after about 3 years).

I expect it's similar across the country, no matter how secluded you are; money for personal development. I suggest finding 1 good friend and expanding from there, it's cheaper too!

well. lol, robert monroe met them at church, or somethin, didn't he? it would surely be the right place to look out for people who saw angels and the like. it's not the right place for me.
i wonder myself ... i would expect to exist signs, symbols, something to know each other. you know any?

I wear a chakra shirt at times so I think people would be able to gather that I'm interested in these kinds of things. I have noticed that more people in Australia than in most places around the world are interested in these topics, I'm not sure why.
Perhaps we should make an astral pulse symbol or sign to make it more obvious about who believes or is open minded to OBE, astral projection ect. So far, no-one I have talked to casually about astral projection hasn't laughed at me.

It sucks, but the best place is probably an insane asylum. People who are only accused of being crazy, or are crazy about something else. But if you go there looking for people who OBE, be careful not to be forcibly committed yourself. I'd be scared to go there and talk like I do here.

Well, this forum is an international forum, it does not belong to any particular country as such. Although Robert Bruce, the OBE author, whose site this forum compliments, is of course Australian himself and I guess you could say it started in Australia!

I'm not sure I would agree that most of those on the forum are Australian. In fact I would say in recent years, the percentage of Americans has increased and they appear to form the majority at the moment, although it can change.

At the moment, we get people from Australia, UK, USA, Canada, India, Turkey, Poland and Sweden, just to name a few!

The few people I have spoken to were family and they kinda think it's weird and do not believe it. My mother who I can trust most...who I thought would be okay with it and be interested, she changes the subject and really seems to not want to speak about. Don't get me wrong Astral Pulse is probably one of the best places to talk about this topic. Sitting at my computer and typing text..it's not the same as having personal friends in your life.

Well, I would be *very* careful about who you tell about your OBE/astral interest as many people are not as understanding of the topic as they are here, in fact if you get used to talking about it here it can lull you into a false sense of security. There is still a lot of hysteria about the whole subject and if you lived in some conservative bible belt area for example, I would be VERY careful about who you talk to, otherwise you might find yourself alienated, or subjected to forced prayer sessions to 'cure' you from straying from the 'right path'. Always be sure that the individual is open enough to accept the idea BEFORE hand.. I can't stress this enough, as I have been burned in the past! (although not literally hehe).

a little story from the other side about what could happen if you talk :

i was in a psychosomatic clinic a year ago. one with a spiritual background where they do TAKETINA (dancing to trance) and stuff. at that time i knew nothing. an that mate from my therapy group talked about walking along the lane, during night, after having left his body. he said, when he crossed the electrical lights, they would flash up. and he talked about being met by ghost. he was an extroverted strong borderline like guy, not a sensitive one, but at that point i really thought that must be some kind of unconventional schizophrenia. the point is: he was talking about it "like a duck takes the water" and forgot to mention that all this happened in the "astral plane". to me it seemed like he has no sense of differentiation between physical reality and ... the other-one. that frightened me to death and i became paranoid about him. what if he would feel menaced by my like by his ghosts and would think i am a ghost. he was sleeping next door to me. he might beat me um with his thousand muscles. (I'm the sensitive introverted schizoid type - could never defend from a borderliner cause my energy is rather frozen than on fire). funny- that night i had sleep paralysis and was visited by a daemon-dude who sucked me dry telepathically. next day i had a sort of psychotic energy level and was completely scared because it felt like this mentioned mate's subconsciousness would have sendet that daemon to me. i was scared to THINK in order not to enrage his subconsciousness even further. (i never accused him of doing such a thing intentionally)
this fear sucked even more of my energy. not being allowed to think is an intense experience!! i swooned 2 times the next day.

and all of this chain reaction was triggered by a Little misunderstanding through a negligibly told story about an astral experience. although, as an agnostic, I am much more open than anyone you would meet on the street !! these were just human fears from my subconsciousness triggered by "confrontation with something extraordinary" since every extraordinary experience is the trigger to the subconsciousness to reorder itself. this is a naturally learning mechanism. and if you talk to people about this stuff you will trigger it, so they have to face their own biggest fear because of you, and subconsciously, that is, without reflecting, so they might not understand a thing and even blame you.

so...

i don talk to people about stuff to protect them. if they want to learn about culturally negotiated sides of nature they shall ask first. i think this is a very important rule.

hey, it's like saying i am schizoid. you guys may know everything about OBEs but most here might know nothing about psychology.  probably some people will falsely think i was a killer or something. sarcastic LOL. its so sad. someone should enlighten humanity

Thanks for the advice. This is something that I definately am already coming to understand and from this point on I am going to keep it to myself. I have not had an OBE or AP yet only some really good energy work. When I do have one I will only tell the people on this forum.

A good place to meet people who might be interested in OBE and related topics is a bookstore.Preferably one specializing in "NewAge"titles. I used to to frequent one out in LA that had an eclectic and sometimes alarming clientel.They make people on this forum seem paragons of sanity. It was always fun going in that place, and asking questions about leaving your body was treated as perfectly normal.

thats intresting, ive always been extremely attraceted to australia. maybe thats why :p
