Hey all!

Why do many sites and books say not to look at mirrors while astral projecting? If you have before, what did you see? I find it a bit strange that people would give this precaution.

In the Llewin book on astral projection they have you looking in a mirror as part of there method .  There is one method of past life regression using a mirror .  I have never read any  where some one says not to look in to a mirror . If you mean while out of body , that sounds like some thing Robert Bruce might say .

Xanth

It's superstition and belief.

Go ahead and look into whatever mirrors you wish.  Nothing bad will happen.
Mirrors can even be used as portals to go "elsewhere" while you're projecting.  :)

If you expect something bad to happen, then probably something of that sort will manifest temporarily. But no, nothing negative happens by rule. I saw myself in a mirror one time and I actually had fun. I was experimenting on how to make my appearance more attractive, and lets say I made some things bigger LOL. Unfortunately that image did not sneak into the physical  :x

Basically, if someone tells you a supposed rule of the nonphysical, you can be sure as anything that there is someone alive who has experienced something contrary to that rule.

The only rule is that there are no rules, only guides.

Its all the repressed unconscious stuff ( beliefs , past life memories ect.) that keeps l.o.a./creative visualzation from working .  I guess if one had some kind of reprresed memory /fear of a mirror then that would manifest while out of body .

I would argue against this. There are counsels and rules in other planes, just as there are in the physical plane. I've been reading a lot of posts on this forum lately, and I've noticed that Lionheart has already started picking up on this. Message one of us. Or don't. You can believe what you want to.

Argue against it all you want.  Believe whatever you want.

But every single time someone has said "this is how it is, this is how it only can be" in regards to a particular non-physical experience, there is someone else who has had an experience that goes contrary to it.

State something which you think is a "rule" of how the non-physical works.  I'm certain that someone somewhere will have an experience which proves your rule isn't a rule.

That's all what I'm saying.  If you believe there are hard/fast rules of the non-physical, then go right ahead.  State some and we'll discuss them.
The "mirror" thing, for example... I've heard that one plenty of times before, yet I've also read a lot of people who have experienced mirrors for themselves with no issues, including myself.  A "rule" that has been anecdotally shown to be incorrect.

First off, I apologize to the OP here for this "hi-jack" here. I have never personally had any experiences with "mirrors" in the NP. I have though used Scrying Mirrors in the past though. Just another form of inducing a Trance state and found nothing harmful there.

Yep AA, I just started to notice this about 3 years ago, lol. I have been experiencing LDs/projections since I was a young child. I didn't start looking into this phenomenon earlier until 3 years ago because I didn't start using the computer until about 3 years ago, lol. Before that I just wrote my experiences off as something everyone does but never talks about. Just like I did with my ability to heal and knowing things about others upon just meeting them. I did study Magick for many years though. I thought that that was the answer. In Magick you learn all kinds of ways to induce a Trance state and NP Exploration/experimenting in general through Scrying, tarot, etc. You also learn how to hold a strong focus.

I think it's funny how you still think you are so much more superior than us here. I say definitely not, because you still don't have your ego in check yet.

If you knew me for real, you would know EXACTLY what that statement means and others that have met me and know me can vouch for that!

I've also known for a while about it. And I don't think I'm superior to anyone. I'm wondering what I posted to make you think such a thing? Since it seems that I haven't already said this to you (I thought I did), I believe in total equality. That means no one is superior. I am not better than you or Xanth, and all of us are no better than convicts. All I said was that there are counsels and rules in other planes. I've never claimed any superiority -_- I think you may have misread or misinterpreted something I said, and I would apologize in advance if you would just stop beating around the bush and tell me exactly what my problem is.

@Xanth

One rule is, if you break a rule set for a certain area (they can vary), you can be temporarily kept out of the astral.

darkdog302

I don't mind the change in topic Lion. It's a pretty interesting topic. Thanks for the replies guys.

So you think that, every single time (that's the definition of a rule), that if someone does something while projecting that they're not supposed to do that this individual would then be somehow "banned" from projecting again?

Y'know what?  I'm just gonna let you continue to believe that one... ;)

To everyone else here on the Astral Pulse:  Not a rule.

soarin12

I've looked in the mirror twice in projections and nothing bad happened except I did kicked out of that realm and put into another realm for taking my clothes off while in front of a mirror. (don't ask! lol --actually I just posted that story on another thread)

Guys and Gals, we can continue the conversation on "Astral Guards/Monitoring, "Astral rules", whatever you want to call it, at this old thread here. That way we won't interrupt or hijack Darkdog's "Mirror" question any further.

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_projection_experiences/question_about_astral_guards_in_rtz-t44011.0.html

Both of those threads entertain the idea. I would love to hear your PERSONAL take on it though, not something that you read.

Thank you! Even though I was quite enjoying the current conversation :P. I'll be sure to check out those threads too.

Mirrors you see are a manifestation. These will bend to your suggestions, if you've read and believe something you've read then that too can manifest.
A standard mirror for me, casts no reflection, I decided this in the early 70's. It still occurs today unless I want to use it as a portal.
There is another special mirror in the darker places I've visited. It shows you the truth of what you are not what you've become. It's also a portal to many environments that are dependant upon the one looking into it.
I named it the mirror of souls, it was seen initially during my early days in the Badlands.
It apparently exists to others too in a similar way to my experiences with it.
Google it for more info. Watch out for the overly religious comments you may find.
I encountered it 40+  years ago and recently found it on a Google search.
A skrying glass is a black mirror and used in devils work. That's the info I was given when young. Typical comment for the religious people I met. It's part of the family of devices all of which are utilised in spirit communication.
I've held one and had no bad vibes from it, quite the opposite.

There's far more where the eye can't see.

This has to be one of the most interesting posts I've read on here! I'll have to look into this more. Thanks for sharing.

Mirrors can be many things. They are totally open to what intent you want to put into them. They can be neutral, open to your expectations, open to your intent, open to your subconscious.

Later, you realize that applies to anything; Mirrors are just the convenient first choice.

I have seen my normal self, my sparkly etheric self, my meat sack self, and nothing.

Now I just use them as instant portals...
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

I have heard looking into mirrors is a good way to check whether OBEing or not, but sometimes your reflection can be disfigured scarily, leading into panic, which is why I won't do that when I finally manage to OBE(have not yet), I get scared easily at night.
