Sleep Deprivation

I have done sleep deprivation experiments and I was wondering if there are any connections between the hallucinations and dream-like state experienced after going days without sleep and astral projection.

They both seem to use "body asleep-mind awake".

Is a sleep depirvation hallucination a quick astral projection?

What effects does depriving yourself of sleep have on your energy body?

Does depriving yourself of sleep serve a purpose... like helping one understand out of body experiences or dreams?

Does it make it harder or easier to project?

I was just hoping someone here has tried both sleep depirvation and astral projection and could tell me how it all works...

The longest I've deprived myself of sleep for was three days.
It's a strange experience...

On the second day my memory is bad, and my emotions feel 10 times stronger, I almost cry if a little thing goes wrong, everything makes me laugh, it's easy to get angry, happy...

On the third day I start hallucinating... first I start hearing things like voices calling my name, and later I might see somthing that isn't really there.

Can anyone here explain why emotions are so much stronger after going a day without sleep?  Can anyone explain why we hallucinate if we don't sleep?

I thought maybe it has something to do with switching from the left brain to the right brain.

Since I use mostly my left brain, and I usually use it for only 16 hours at a time (before sleeping) maybe when I go longer without sleep, my left brain gets tired out and I start using more of my right brain.
This would explain why my emotions are stronger, because now I'm using more of my right brain (emotions are associated with the right brain) and it would also explain why my memory doesn't work as well, because my left brain is tired out (memory is left brain).  That might also explain the hallucinations or dreamlike experiences.  (dreams are right brain)  Just a guess.

If anyone actually knows anything about this, please share.

Good questions, il bump in hopes that you will get some equally good answers.
EXPERIENCE IS KNOWLEDGE

Well, thanks for the bump, Ben.  I'm glad this interests one person.

I guess this is another bump.  I'll give up if no replies this time.

I think that this can help you in having a short OOBE because you will enter the trance more easily, but the problem is that your body will go asleep quickly after separation, so the longest OOBEs can be achieved when not tired.
Sleep deprivation in a harmful thing and I guess it can't help in spiritual development, unless you will use it to meditate on emotions like anger to understand and control them. As it amplifies emotions, it will serve as a good training ground.

I do not approve of using any methods to achieve astral projection that are unhealthy and depriving yourself of sleep is not healthy. I find when I go too long without sleep my memory becomes bad and I have trouble concentrating, both of which are important for astral travel.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Yea, I guess sleep deprivation isn't very healthy... but I don't see how it's hurting me so that doesn't stop me.

I guess I do it just because it's the only thing I can do that I get any results from...

Do a google search on the ill effects of sleep deprivation and you will see how in the long run it is counter productive to all parts of your life. One of the biggest problems is that you are too tired to see what is happening to you so you think you are fine. If you insist on doing it I suggest not doing it often and don't do anything dangerous like driving a car, operating machinery, etc while depriving yourself of sleep.

Sorry to Necro an old thread but I felt it would be better to contribute to this one rather than start another of hte same Topic. I am going on being awake for about 24 hours now. I feel super... uh.. tired? but im not. I feel spacey.. Im going to try to AP tonight while feeling like this to see if it makes any difference.

I will post in the morning :)
