Title: New Features and Layout
Post by: Tom on January 10, 2003, 09:55:04
Thanks. :) It took less than a year to reach 1000 posts. Will the next level be at 2000 posts or will it be something a little closer? Or maybe farther away, such as 2500?

Red is a good color.

I think I will like the new features on the computer at home. It could be less convenient at work for identifying new posts, because there are three computers and I often delete my cookies.

Greetings Tom,

Thank you for your comments!

5 Stars is the highest level, so all you can do now is to keep posting [:D]

With best regards,

Adrian.

I'm actually having some problems, I don't think it's anything browser-related.  I'm not seeing any forums or topics unless I'm already in that forum, if that makes sense.  I have a thread in the Energy Development forum bookmarked, so I can go there and find that forum and other threads; but when I go to "Home" or "All Forums" there's nothing there.  I found this thread by clicking on Adrian's profile and viewing his recent posts.
Surely I can't be the only one stuck in limbo?

Oh, and nothing comes up under Active topics either, even when I set it to show me older topics.  And yes, I'm signed in.

Greetings Jacara,

Apologies for the problems you are having there.

I have to say that so far there have been no other reports of such problems as you describe.

It might be worth logging out and then back in again, and flushing your browser cache. You could also d a simple browser refresh.

Please let me know how that works.

With best regards,

Adrian.

That was the sort of problem I was having, too. I had to keep clicking on things and am not sure what finally did the job. It started out saying that there were no active topics when there were at least two since my last visit. It was also not automatically letting me see all of the forums until I found the menu with the option to show all of the forums I have access to.

Greetings Tom,

Thanks for letting me know.

I think all we can do for now is to see if anyone else reports it. I haven't seen it myself, so it could be due to the old layout being stored on the browser cache and getting confused.

With best regards,

Adrian.

That has to be it. I just switched computers to one where I was logged in already. It said that there were two active topics and that I was logged in as Tom. On clicking to go to see the active topics, I was logged out. The other things are just a matter of learning to use the functions in a slightly different way.

I had something similar, Jacara. I used the pull-down menu called "Change category group!" (look near top left corner of your screen) to "All categories you have access to" and this gave me a more familiar forum starting point.

Then I bookmarked the new URL. Try it, see if it works for you.

Hi.  All I can say is ME TOO!.  Same problem as Jacara.  It just says no active topics, and one must keep clicking.  I am confused.  The old format may have been slower, but it was easier to use and I could see all the recent post dates at once.  I will keep trying as I enjoy reading many of the posts.

Greetings Jennadots!

I am not sure what the problem is here. You should see all of the forums just as before, and with even more detail in fact.

Itr might be worth flushing your browser cache, and refreshing as well.  Also in the top left corner where it says "Change Category Group" - selct "All Categories you have access to".

Please let me know how that goes.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Oooohhhhh very nice.
I had the reported problem when I first logged on (no active threads, nothing to find), but figured changes were in the works and now I come back and it all seems to work.
Adrian - are you sure the page from you start at is really necessary? Why not just go straight to "all topics you have access to"? I think it might just confuse a lot of people otherwise. Confused me!
cheers
Rob

Greetings Rob!

Thanks for your comments [:D]

In fact, it is supposed to default to "All Categories you have access to", and I haven't figured out yet why it isn't working for some users.  I have put a notice about it on the News scroller until I do - if only people would read it [:)]

With best regards,

Adrian.

Hey!
Another problem....attached screenshot, when I tried to get into the private messages. It was not working at all this time, stuck with the menu open (but only that one, none of the others would open...). Tried a couple of times - I can't see the new message it claims that I have, and the weird blue bit is always there. Very strange. Though I can usually access messages.
Keep up the good work mate!

Greetings Inguma,

That is likely due to a conflict between the files in your browser cache between the previous and new layouts. It hasn't been reported before. The screenshot is from the old layout, and that hasn't been online since last Friday [:)]

Please try flushing your browser cache files and see what happens. If anyone else isseeing this, please mention it here.

Thanks for your comments!

With best regards,

Adrian.

Greetings everyone,

I do hope that you like the updated Astral Pulse.

There are many obvious enhancements as well as not so obvious ones visually. You should find the speed of loading forums and topics quicker hopefully for example.

There are hundreds of thousands of lines of code that drive this resource, and there will inevitably be some problems.

Please be patient and understanding while I sort them out.

Congratulations to Tom on being the first member to achieve 5 stars[:)] Tom, if you do not like red, as you are the first member to reac this level, I will let you choose another colour [:D]

With best regards,

Adrian.
