Derren Brown fraud

Hi people, im not sure if any one outside the uk and ireland will be familiar with the illusionist Derren Brown?

He has programs on our chanelle 4, he preforms illisions and tricks which he claims he achieves by using mind control and psycholigy.
I he claims no spychic ability even though on his recorded programs he apears to be demonstrating 100% accurate remoteviewing, clairvoyance and mind reading.
He spends much of his time telling every one that psychic phenomina is a load of rubbish and dosent exist and that he can do all those things using psycholigy and something he calls cold reading that tells the tv audience, ALL MEDIUMS do !

Ive watched a few of his programs and the only conclusion I could come up with is either he is psychic and pretends his not! which does make any sence at all, or b, hes using actors and hes a fraud.

I wasnt at all suprised then to discover that the jersy police announced he was a fraud after investigating one of his stunts on chanelle 4,because he filmed a russion roulette trick pretending he was using live rounds, but in fact he wasnt. I wasnt also suprised to find out he hires actors to play out his mind reading tricks,and its worth noting that Derren Brown was a failed magician before he claimed to be able to read and control minds etc. His so called psycholigy tricks are no more than magic tricks with actors.

So why am i botherd? because there are a great number of genuine good hearted and hard working mediums healers and psychics endlessy giving and helping people through times grief chrisis, illness and tragedy,only for him to to get paid to fraudently try and prove it to all be a load of nonsence. I would give Derren 10,000 pounds if he could read my mind !!!!!

Could you provide any links proving that he uses actors in his program without admitting it? He states when he does use actors, and its a rare occasion, not something he frequently does. He usually does it in terms of showing how certain techniques are carried out by so called psychics who also use stooges etc (please note I am not saying all psychics do this).
Derren brown doesn't read minds, and he doesn't cold read to gain all this information. He actually practices an area of magic called mentalism, and he couples this with psychology, suggestion, knowledge of the mind and it's nuances and a lot of research.
I respect what he does as he exposes natural processes of the mind and our perception which, if we weren't more informed, would seem to have psychic and super-natural origins.
For example, if Derren Brown didn't frequently state he does not believe in psychic powers, and everything he does uses natural means - he could become a very big name in spiritual spheres. And I have no doubt that a lot of the techniques he uses, others knowingly or unknowingly (ie believing they do have special powers) use them too, giving them credibility as 'psychics'.

Regarding the Russian roulette show, it's still not 100% known if it was fake or not. We simply don't know. Either way, firing a blank bullet at point blank range will either seriously injure you, or actually prove fatal - you can research this as there have been similar deaths in the press from blank bullets. So real or not, the threat of death was still the same.

I can see why some people would be threatened by him, as he could potentially threaten a lot of beliefs. But I respect the man for 'sorting the wheat from the chaff'. I would rather have a belief taken away from me, and at least be a step closer to the truth, than be lost in a world of falsehoods.
This is my opinion, and as always, yours may vary .

darren brown never claimed to be psychic..in fact the does the exact opposite disproving most things healers etc do.. (i'm not saying other people cant do these certain things) at the start of every show he says "by using means of hypnosis,distraction, misdirection and showman ship i can get these people to do etc etc"

he even made a film were he went to the states and tested remote vierwers etc..

Hi Jingo hi Sunn, firstly, like your selves im a very open mind person, I couldnt be a medium with out one.
Im looking at what would appear to be the evidence. Number one theres nothing wrong with entertainment, and that we have to remember is what derren brown provides, but it is wrong to claim it somthing it isnt. If he could read minds through mentalism he would be able to re write centuries of psychology books, any one with a phd or degree in psychology im sure would be quite upset that he is saying he uses psychologie to read peoples minds. Wheres the evidence?

Derren brown has performed card tricks on tv saying hes using psychology, when infact hes using old and tested magic tricks. Theres no doubt in many ways he is a talented entertainer and probably 25% of what he does is psychology...the rest is tricks and actors.

As for the russian roulette, it was in all the british papers at the time and channelle 4 made a public apologie after the investigation. D.B claimed to be using live rounds. Its ilegal to carry a laoded weapon in Jersey, so the police investigated the show and it was found that no live rounds where ever brought in to jersey for the show...so why lie? to make money from a tv show of coarse.

And yes Derren Brown does do what he calls cold reading. I Think its absured ! when im giving some one a reading I dont say "shes saying she had blonde hair..? no brown.. i mean was it black?

Enjoy his program by all means, but remember its an illusainist with an organised show.

When Derren brown is given tests by independent researchres and has the same results then ill believe, until then do the google search "Derren Brown is a fraud" and read read read.
Ps im sure you are all inteligent people, the programme in America was recoreded and there is know way it was real. Its also interesting to note that when Derren brown has been set challenges hes not risen to it. Why not? Regards MK
