Just thought I would let any sf & fantasy fans know that a new social club for those into sf and fantasy (as well as horror etc) has started up. 'Area 42' meets up every Wednesday evening, downstairs at the Jekyll and Hyde pub on Hanover street, Edinburgh, from 8pm til late.
The downstairs section of the pub is exclusively reserved for the club on
these nights and has its own bar (essential requirement!).

Cheers everyone!

damn nice. we don't have that kind of thing in portugal :(
Well I hope to make it to the UK someday. If I am in the neighborhood I will stop by. :)
Have you read any Brian Lumley (author from the UK)? He is a great author that combines all three areas really well (Horror, SciFi, and Fantasy). I just finishing reading Khai of Khem and wow that is a great book. It was just reprinted after 20 years. It is a great Fantasy book with some Horror and a dash of Sci Fi.

yes, I have read his 'Necroscope' books, have you read them? They are his vampire based cycle.
btw if you want a great UK fantasy author I would recommend David Gemmel, his books have begun to be released in the US.
Read 'Legend' it is awesome, he manages to combine heroism with a sense of realism, you really feel like you are in the battle scenes.
His characters like 'Druss the Legend' and 'Waylander' are great.

Yes, I have read the Necroscope series. I love those books. Those were the first set of his I read. Depending on your tastes you should read his other books. The Titus Crow books are more Sci Fi, bringing science to occultism. His Dreamland series starting with Hero of Dreams is more Fantasy with an entertaining pair of roguish heroes.
Thank you for the recommendation. I will check out David Gemmel.
