Title: oooo... that's it.... !!!!!
Post by: no_leaf_clover on August 23, 2003, 23:20:22
What was that guy's username that posted craploads of messages that simply read things like 'hey' and 'what's up'? Well, whatever his username was.. I can honestly say that I wish he would come back and take Allanon's place. That's not meant as an insult or whatever, it's just how truly I feel.

I've never enjoyed Bible-thumpers. A huge face could appear over the sky and say "The Church is corrupting the free-thinking world like the civilized version of Al-Quida! Beware it and accept others.. Yadda Yadda Yadda. I love to watch Seinfield. I should edit fate so that it never went off the air. I could do that, ya know," and the Bible-thumpers could find some passage in some Bible somewhere and twist it around to 'explain' that situation while throwing the history of that particular statement to the side.

Hi,

It's worth remembering sometimes that everything can be useful.  There is no good or bad, just labels we place on things.  Ultimately everything (even the things it is easy to label negative) are just alternate paths to the greatest good.  I am learning more and more at least in my life that the more strongly I am disturbed by another person or what they do, that it is really pointing to something in ME that needs to be honestly recognized and evolved.  That something is almost always a belief, expectation, or unwillingness to appreciate the value of the moment, and it is always something that disempowers me and sucks my energy.  It's not always easy, but if we look honestly and sincerely, the REAL "problem" and the solution are always in US...the things or people who annoy us are merely signposts pointing to the areas of ourselves we need to take a look at.

As always I will qualify that by saying this is invariably true for ME...it may not be anybody else's truth.  Hopefully it's at least worth thinking about though.  [:)]

yes, i agree with you soulfire... meeting up with people who aggravate us can help us learn even more about ourselves, and reinforce even more why we believe what we believe... hmm.. i think i said sort of the same thing in a previous post... think it was the one where mustardseed said he was leaving this forum... oh yeah, "what's really happening in this forum?"  here's my quote:
sometimes i get pretty irritated at some of the posts. but there are also plenty of people with very interesting, fascinating things to say, and very positive attitudes. i weed through the BS and try to pick up what i can from the good stuff. there's always something to learn from everyone, even the jack*sses (like what are some of the problematic mentalities that exist in the world around us, and maybe learn some of their "logic", and how to deal with it. or, by reading the stupid things some of these people say, it gets everyone's minds working fast & furious, and maybe even helps us to clarify/strengthen even more why we believe what we believe, etc.)

but now i feel i've gotten just about everything i can out of allanon.  my own beliefs are VERY reinforced now.  debating with him has made me think about my own beliefs and look at them closely, and look at his closely, and i know in my heart that his path is just not for me, and that what i've chosen so far is what's right for me.  but now i'm getting seriously burnt out on the whole conversation.  it is like debating with a wall or something.  if he could provide more logical, more mind-stimulating proof besides "the bible says this", then i would gladly keep on debating with him.  but this is just truly useless.  his usefulness in my personal growth is, well, already (very quickly) used up.  until he can provide more debate-worthy stuff besides "the bible says it, so it is the Truth", i'm just tapped dry of patience.  my own belief self-analysis has reached a standstill.  there is nothing more to think about in what he says.

Thanks for saying it.  Well said, and agreed.  I too will ignore
anymore of his close-minded posts that call people Satanists and imply we are idiots.

Unfortunately, he is not a joke.  There are millions out there just like him in almost all faiths.

If he is looking for agreement and converts, he has obviously come to the wrong place!

Oh, well......

Agreed.  I haven't posted any responses to him.  The discussions he starts make me laugh.  And reading other's responses make me laugh at times too.  Not in a disrespectful way but out of joy that so many people are able to think for themselves here and articulate themselves so clearly. And yes, we all will learn something from it.

Allanon has made me appreciate this place much more than before.  It was his posts that made me realize that a majority of the people on this board exist here fairly happily no matter what their beliefs are.  I enjoy and respect that.

So, thank you Allanon!

allanon has GOT to be a joke... he's probably got tears of laughter rolling down his face every night from reading our furious posts.  he is just too much the stereotypical "hellfire and brimstone" or whatever you call it preacher.  it's just amazing to think of anyone like him still existing in this day and age (well, i know they exist somewhere, but come on, why the heck would they ever want to hang out in this forum?!?!)  this is just too ridiculous, this whole thing!  it's a total farce!  and even if he's for real, well, we're not getting anywhere with this... i'm gonna TRY to ignore him.... really...  ah who am i kidding, i'll probably think up another thing to say to him.[:I]  but i'm gonna darn well try to ignore him!  [:D]
