Seriously though. I dont think it would be such a bad thing if something like that were to happen. Ive always kinda wanted to live in a time where things were shook up a little. People had to find out how to really live. But as I type this Im thinking "be careful what you wish for". I probably should be more careful.
I think in a way thats the lure for these end of the world theories. Trying to get people to see how short their time is. However there seem to be at least 5 of these a year. Come on people how about a ten year mark.

according to the sumerians, the people on nibiru (planet x, if thats what you want to call it) had nukes easily available millenia ago. id say they're a little beyond those type of things now. plus, if we did come across the planet that abruptly, we wouldn't just go out for blood.
the sumerians arent such an incredible source, either. they also knew of uranus, neptune, and pluto being in our solar system, and those are modern discoveries, invisible to the naked eye (they supposively didnt have telescopes, centuries from it), especially pluto, which was discovered in 1930. and the sumerians not only knew of pluto, they told of how it was once a moon of saturn's (not neptune's) but was dragged out of orbit by nibiru passing by.
its actually not so far-fetched when you read up on it and all the evidence supporting it, especially about the unknown gravities effecting all those comets and the outer planets and all the old records of such a planet becoming visible temporarily. it's just that so many people take such a possibility as a joke, possibly out of their own fears, that such ideas are laughed at or though of as total bovine excrement.
the story is that the planet was zooming through space because of an extremely powerful collision that knocked it out of its previous orbit, either in sirius or somewhere near orion. the planet flew along for a vast amount of time, and was eventually pulled in by the gravity of the sun and took up a VERY elliptical orbit, going out about three times as far as pluto and then coming back around through the asteroid belt every 3600 years. the theories behind this also explain the pacific crater, sudden meteor showers of 3.9 billion years ago, and the asteroid belt all at the same time.
but... 'planet x' coming tomorrow.... nah.... 2012 is my opinion. [:)] zecharia sitchin can't pinpoint an exact date, because it's almost impossible to tell, really. there might not even be a nibiru, or planet x, in our solar system. but there's just so much evidence, both modern and ancient (ancient being more explicit and therefore 'far-fetched'), without which such a notion would scarcely arise.

well put and i have read various books mentioning the 10th planet.
if its there and is headed our way, the only way we are going to hear about it is on the web. it will skrew up our planet so bad when it passes near us that 95-98% of the people are going to die from the magnetic pole shifting, extreme weather changes, mass hysteria, religous hysteria, and other social breakdowns. the government knows this and there is nothing they can do about it. they would never admit to any major world catastrophy. they would lose their power to control us instantly.
if it is real.
and if it is, head for the most unpopulated place that u can find. it wont save us from the natural disasters, but it will save us from the crazy people that will arise from the situation.

this is like the "aliens" issue...... if they are real, this subject alone would freak out more than 3/4 of the world to the point where most governments wouldnt have control of their people anymore.
think about this............most countries on this planet are either ruled by the prominent religion in their area or based directly on religous beliefs for their particular laws, etc. the reality of life besides us in this vast universe would instantly make most people throw out everything they learned about their respective religion. and people neeeeeeeed something to believe in. take away their main motivating force in their lives and what do you get? one hell of an every man for themselves society!

Given the unpopulated area that I'm currently living in, I'm sure I'd be pretty safe if I just stayed where I am. But no, It's my 21st birthday this weekend so I'll be heading directly into the chaotic danger zone that is Sydney.
It will be a shame if this small choice leads to my demise. I guess I don't really believe this thing will be that catastophic.

nibiru has passed by before while people were on earth, just not modern people. the deluge (caused by nibiru's passing close to earth) killed off all people (except for, of course, utnapishtim/the biblical noah), but that was during an ice age, and the ice caps were pulled off because of nibiru's gravity, causing massive tsunamis. the issue today is global warming, so something like that isnt going to be life-threatening. i dont doubt that weather will certainly start acting up, but will it be enough to kill mass amounts of people in modern, well-prepared countries such as the ones we live?
the people going hysterical... that'll be pretty scary. sitchin says that alien ubductions are becoming more frequent (1950's onward) to prepare us for nibiru's arrival, that the alien grays are emissaries from nibiru, but ive read articles by other people (http://www.vibrani.com/Nakmemories.htm) that make more sense than this regarding the alien grays, since the annunaki are supposed to look exactly like us, only taller.
who knows what will happen? it should be interesting either way [:)]. just get me a house in ireland, in the middle of nowhere, preferably on a high mountainous area, and hope that the weather doesnt get that bad.

does the world even deserve to go on after everything that the human race has put it through? i wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if the universe (God, fate, whoever) just chooses to "end" Earth at that time regardless. it seems like the governing force of the universe is getting pretty ticked off that we're doing nothing but hurt this planet, and niburu would either come as total destruction or through the course of events, would end up getting rid of enough of those who have screwed it up that there's a chance (ever so slightly) of fixing it?
basically, it seems to me like this is fate's way of saying "Dammit Earth! Go cook my dinner!" *slap*

Scientists HAVE recently found a new planet in our solar system, it's called Sedna. It's larger than Quaoar but smaller than Pluto. It's about 1100 miles in diameter.[:O]
Sedna - not much of a planet. Our moon is larger. Maybe it is coming this way and will become our second moon, which means, of course, that the tides will now pull us in two directions at once.
Since we are mostly water, we will like be stretched sideways and then when the tides chanage, we will snap back. We will all be like giant rubberbands.
Actually, I have always wondered about this fascination we all seem to have with "doomsday" and the end of the world scenarios. Do we think we deserve extinction? Or is it all just irrational fears rising out of our primitive, animal natures? Maybe it is just ego as we wonder what the universe will ever do without US - it will manage just fine, I am sure.
For some, it is a religious thing about sin and punishment. My own opinion is that most of us have been punished quite enough in many, many lifetimes. We don't need any more lessons in punishment and sufferings - the lessons are all around us if we care to look at them. So I don't buy into that.
There are worse things than just up and dying. Some of those things might be surviving some of these end of the world prophecies or self-righteous satisfaction that all the rest of us will finally get our just punishments.
Even in the worst situations of human history, we have shown a remarkable ability to survive. Not all of us, but at least enough to continue the species in some form.
I wouldn't mind a second moon in the sky and if it has an atmosphere, it will have Ronald McDonald, SpongeBob, Disneyland, and a casino filled with blue haired ladies playing those slot machines, and one very expensive, very fancy French restaurant for the snootier crowds.
