LOL [:)], i was one of that persons in the beginning...and i think that it had much more than 1000 pixels....[:D]
we must find an avatar for Adrian. But first you must say what kind of avatar do you want...
Yea Tao, you have no idea how long I've been wondering the same thing :)
We DO need to get you an avatar... how about one that says "Admin" or just "Awesome person" or...
Your favorite band? Your favorite hobby? YOU?

it would really really help if there were a special help/instruction topic for avatars in the "general FAQs" under the "help stuff" menu or somewhere in the sections on how to use the forum. those are the places i tend to look for the rules on a website or other things. it didn't occur to me to look for "topics" on it, because why should info on using the forum be hidden away in topics? i'm also not sure i found the "news scroller" thing, and if i have, i didn't see anything about avatars. and i wouldn't have ever looked at a news section, anyway, since it's not exactly "news"... it's something that's kinda constant on the forum. but if putting the info in the Help Stuff section isn't possible, then i guess make this topic a "sticky".
If you are working on a windows computer go into the paint program.
Start > Programs > Accessories > Paint
Once your in paint open the image and then goto the "Image" menu, select "Attributes". Select "pixels" in the units box at the bottom of the new window that pops up. Then just look at what it says in the width and height boxes that is the size of the picture. You can change the size of the picture either here or in the "Stretch/Skew" option under the "Image" menu. I recommend the "Stretch/Skew" method as you can easily keep the aspect ratio, but it may take several attempts before you get it into the desired range right around 64x64 pixels.
I just figured that there might be some of you who want to use images larger that allowed so instructions on how to resize them might be useful.
Whoops :| I just submitted one today but I cropped it to 64x46 not thinking it would be resized to the full 64x64. I re-submitted a correct one.. so I guess if you can get rid of the stretched one and approve the right one it'd be good [:D] thanks
I submitted one but I still don't see it and Im pretty sure it is of correct size. Did I do something wrong?
Dear Calypso,
I have no idea if you did something wrong but here is the way I do it.
1. Find the avatar you want and save it to your computer, you can't link to images on the web.
2. Resize if necessary, see my instructions above.
3. Now you start using this site. Login and go into edit profile. Scroll down and select the "Add avatar" link.
4. A new window pops up and you use the "browse" button to find the image on your computer. In the "Title" box give your avatar a name.
5. Hit the submit button, and wait a couple of days. If it still does not appear and you are absolutely certain you did everything right and the image is the proper dimensions I would recommend PMing Adrian as he is the one who would be able to help sort things out, I don't think mods have control over submissions but I could be wrong. Sorry Adrian if this generates a bunch of junk in your inbox. [:P]

I arguably have the hottest avatar! :)
Tisha's hotter![:D]
Big hug to Tisha.[^]
-.-;
I still have the funniest icon [8D] Pothead is the coolest of them all. I mean, he's a guy with a pot on his head. That alone hives it like 50 extra credit points. And the caption is "pothead". That's the irony. Go irony.

Well I think mine is hottest! [xx(]
thanks for explaining that!!! I will do that now

Whats your avatar of?
I think my avatar is in the top 5
Yea that UV (?) pic of the sun is really nice. I just submitted a 100x100 pix .jpg will this get deleted or will it get resized? I could do it myself and resend it but I don't know if you want to be swarmed with files [|)].
My guess is that a 100x100 will get approved but I am not certain. It is not that bad compared to some of the 500+ ones I have heard about.
100 x 100 avatars would be so sweet![:P]
Could I just submit any sized avatar and have you resize it for me Adrian?
-Aries
I re-sent another dragon pic recently the first one was too big srry about that Adrian.
Adrian, I sent you a 64x64 did you get it. It was of a flower. If not I can resend. Thanks

are avatars that you submit only for you or can anyone use them? cause im well sort of new ive been here for a while but i got a real nice avatar i want to use for me only because me and this other person created it and i want to use it but i feel noone else has a right to use it because it has meaning but others dont need to know about it.
I wanted to bring this to light again seeings how Adrian is still receiving Avatar requests that are still way over the 64X64 which is the only size that is allowed.
It takes alot of time to reject submissions on Avatars that are too large.
The more time he has to spend doing this the less time he can spend on the actual forums, and we all what to see more of that don't we? So, lets help Adrian lessen his work load and sumbit ONLY 64x64 Avatars. [:D]
Thanks ya'll.. ~ Nay
Whatever your avatar depicts, Nay, it looks cool.
YO!
What's the 'file size' limit?! In bytes/kb that is.
I think I sent an avatar that was WAY more than 64X64. Sorry about that Adrian.
Hello all,
Can someone tell me how to delete and avatar that I have previously submitted?
Greetings everyone,
Notwithstanding previous topics posted here as well as private messages and a permanent item in the new scroller, everyday I am receiving Avatars which are way outside of the specified size, and an equal number of people messaging me to ask why they haven't had their Avatar verified! Today for example I received a number of Avatars over 1000 pixels in size, something which happens most days.
Please ensure your Avatar is as near to 64x64 pixels in size as possible, give or take 10% is usually alright. Also, please try to make your Avatars as square as possible as the forums makes them square anyway, and if the Avatar started off with unequal dimensions it will be stretched to the correct dimensions and not look right.
Thank you!
With best regards,
Adrian.
