Hey...

So recently I have been hotly replying and debating on the comment board on my OOBE instructional videos on Youtube. Truly a pointless venture.. but essentially the message is sinking in; The videos I have there are very old and I think it's time for something a bit new and different.

So... for those who don't actually know me on this forum...

my real name is Ben Phillips... I am a digital matte painter, concept artist, SFX technician and creature builder... I am currently producing and creating the matte paintings for a short movie that's being submitted to this years Cannes film festival.

I want to produce a 'film' that revolves around the nonphysical. It needs to be fresh and different. Something that hasn't been seen before. Truly informative yet ultimately entertaining. It could be a storyline.. an actual feature... a short film.. a documentary.. or mockumentary.

If anyone has any ideas or things they would want to see or probably most importantly what they 'DONT' want to see... or indeed they might think their journey is worth turning into a film... then feel free to reply with anything.

It would be nice to get something ready for the festivals next year... or it may take longer... or it may just be worth uploading it as a viral or Youtube video.

This is a freeform thread and I welcome ANY input. I am not short on ideas myself but I know that one POV does not an informative film make.

Could you really pull off a feature? I don't doubt your talent and ability for one second but that takes a lot of time and money doesn't it?

But back to your idea. I was just thinking that a Donnie Darko type movie from an AP perspective would be awesome.

But a shorter, more informative video could portray an actual OOBE that one of us has had with some before and after narrative explaining what is happening.

There is a saying that nothing is new under the sun so the "freshness" will have to come from the writing and direction obviously.

haha.. I wouldn't be doing it alone. I am in the film industry... or part of it rather. I have the resources at my disposal... it's what a producer does.

If the idea is good enough and has merit... depending on what it is... a feature or a documentary feature.. then there would be a treatment and draft written up... this could then be proposed in several ways for funding. Don't worry about that bit that's part of film making.

Up until this point I have never seen any film that portrays OOBE as it really is. This may be the route to go down.

I was even considering at one point to maybe make a film based on Oliver Fox.

Astralzombie

That would be perfect. You could even use his phrase and call it " A dream of Knowledge".

Yes... or

"the Pineal Doorway"

Something I might not have mentioned before... and it's absolutely AMAZING.

While working on Potter I had a basement apartment at 84 Worple road in Wimbledon. This was seemingly part of the strip of victorian houses that Oliver Fox lived in.

Astralzombie

I say commit to the Oliver Fox idea now.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssse permit me one measly scene for consideration. I know the format for writing a screenplay. :-D

All credit would be yours of course.

How often do we have a chance helping others live a dream in the physical from start to finish.

My mind is locked on the potential of such a movie. :-D

Well I love his way of writing. He was so middle class British and I imagine quite a character. I bought a 60s print of his book recently from Amazon... wasn't cheap.

I am currently chasing up some of his papers and other material he wrote.

It has been on my mind for quite a while purely because his was the first book I read on the subject.

No.. credit given where credit due. Go ahead. Like I said this is for ideas and whatnot.

AstralCody

Bedeekin, that is so cool man! You're a SFX technician? That's so cool. I will try and think of things today and report back here. =D Sounds like a very cool idea. Maybe to make some side cash you can use the waxvac advertisement before your stuff? OWWW!  :-D

I see a video starting with an incredibly vivid OBE scenario, then a split scene of another, that scene then splits into 4 then 8, then 16 etc. Each individual box has a different OBE scene in it. All ones that could be realistic including the ET scenarios. The next scene then shows 1 person Dreaming, then another split, 8, 16, matching the intital ones OBE scenarios.

Now that you have caught their attention, you can back track with a video on how they got to that point.

In other words, show the rewards first. Then tell them how to get there afterwards.

You really want to get their curiosity going. Blow them away with your vivid scenarios.

That's what I would like to see.  :-)

I bow to your genius. Can you say Academy Award?

Nice Lionheart.

When I was writing my 'book' (lol) I started it off with the methods. All others seem to wait till the end.

But no.. I like that. That's actually an amazing idea.

Cody... the Waxvac is obviously in.

Since I haven't been sleeping normally, as per our discussion. I have been able to watch the entire process of going into a Dream, from start to finish.

I see a scene starting with a totally black screen, a sound of either a rhythmic breathing or gentle snore could be heard. A few smoky wisps start showing up and the sound is changing more to a gentle high pitch piercing. The wisps are starting to take on form, as of mild hynogogia. The wisps then either turn into a tunnel or spinning vortex, the piercing getting louder.

Now the piercing starts to morph into the sound of gentle rushing water. The visual comes out of the tunnel/vortex into a beautiful vivid waterfall sense. Everyone loves waterfalls!

From there is turns into a split scene then that splits, etc. to my previous post.

Taking this route will show new people what a lot of people experience on the way there. It will also answer many of their questions before they can even ask them. I love solving a problem before it becomes a problem.  :-)

This gives you a chance to say quite a bit without uttering a word.

This is exactly how I was going to do it.

Black screen with the typical phosphenes and breathing... then giving away to the blackness again.. then the obscure wisps of non-descript movement.. .slight patterns of something tangible here and there... morphing into a full colour scene... etc

Not only will this be a nice accurate portrayal... but it will make people watching it wonder if they saw something they recognised.

...lol, I guess it was just my sixth sense kicking in again!  :-D

There was a badly made movie I saw in the mid 70s at a drive in .  A killer went out of body to kill people . While he was out of body a cop had him decleared dead and  had his body burned .  I dont remember the name .   On a much different note , there still working on dark energy and dark mater .  In the first few pages of Llewellyn"s a.p. book ( isbn 0-87542-181-4) it states you can get in to the fundemental level of things to see how things work .  Maby you can do some thing on dark energy/mater . desert rat

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!! I don't really have any creative suggestions to add.

Though something I was taught in my English lessons at primary school; when writing a story, never end with 'and then he woke up & it was all an astral projection' :-)

Some of the snippets can get longer showing many of the dream cliches like falling, nudity in public, that sort of thing before you enter a fantastic dream sequence. Since most people can identify with the cliches they will be more open to the message that even they can experience the more fantastic ones with awareness.

Show them a reality check in the last cliche snippet so they get that concept. Now I know what you're gonna say Beedeekin, but this could be a beautiful naked woman in the schoolroom that realizes after her initial horror of being nude in public, that this must be a dream. So she starts to act silly in her awareness of this fact and then things start getting hazing and distorted and now she's a little freaked out because she can't remember a dream ever happening like this.

Each desk by desk, and student by student is slowly replace with the scene of her next dream or her astral locale. She is leery but amazed at it's realness. Maybe a being can startle her awake and the story begins......

I know how everybody feels about using sex to sell this message to the public but you have to sell it to some investors first and they could give a hoot about the message so long as the story is great and has sex. Thems be the facts.

There are.. and has always been two main ideas that have been touched on here.

I would LOVE to make some sort of biopic of Oliver Fox... sometimes the forgotten pioneer in my opinion. His book is full of more hints and information than both... and his writing style is so archaic early 20th century middle-class it makes me giggle. Very human and humble.

The other is to make an instructional video using either animation or very nice imagery and of course be a series of videos... even involving dream archetypal scenarios like teeth falling out.. dreaming about a building with many rooms.. the geometric dream or fever dream.

I may even put a proposition up on Kickstarter.

*EDIT*

Haha.. its_all_bad.. yes archetypal... cliches...

These wont need sex to sell. They are going to be arty and different... hip.. trendy. Yet to the point. Sex does sell... but generally when there is little confidence in the original idea.. and I don't want to copy off Raduga.
