strange phenomonon when I wake up

I used to experience this phenomonon when I was very young, like 5-8 years old. I had forgotten about it, however only lately in the last couple months have I started to experience it again.

When I wake up in the morning after only 2-3 seconds, I look around at objects in my room and they appear totally different, a pile of clothes will seem like a monster, or the curtains on the wall, there will appaer a face in them, or the texture of an object will be like a person. I don't actually believe that these objects are alive, but I can see that if I was a kid, I might be scared.

Doss anyone know what this might be? Why is it that it is only happening now, after many years, while even only 6 months ago, every object was exactly what it was and there was no sudden or random projection of imagination... do you think it has any significance or meaning?
