The Secret of The Soul by William Buhlman

Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Sometimes fiction can bypass the concious mind. I was enthralled by the book of the new sun series by Gene Wolfe and had the most intense meditative experience from reading it. Kathleeen and W. Micheal Gear have written many good books about life in north america before columbus. There is another series that is based on a woman's past life exp. brought on by accupuncture that is very good-it influenced my dreams and really got into my being like no other book.

In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.

Jose Silva, Mind Control Method... Stephen LaBerge (lucid dreaming) ...Ruth Montgomery books are good for laughs!

Seven Steps to Eternity by Stephen Turoff, ISBN 1-902636-17-1

This is the story of the spirit of a 20 year old British soldier (James Legget) who died in the battle of the Somme. Legget contacts Turoff, a psychic surgeon living in the UK, to ask for his help (for technical reasons) in committing his story to paper.

At first Legget is not aware that he has died, merely that his pain - and his wound - have gone.
He finds that he is tethered by a cord-like structure attached to a dark lump on the ground. It's not until two of his comrades appear and, ignoring his entreaties for help, carry off the lump to which he is attached, that he begins to suspect that summut is up.

To his surprise, Legget finds that death has not severed his connection with the military. There
are astral officers, and astral barracks where he and many others are taken to recover from the
trauma of their recent decease. Soon his spirit guide - an oriental called Chan - makes his appearance and introduces him to the wonders of astral living, including battles with dark entities who are (were) instrumental in encouraging the physical plane inhumanities inflicted in the two world wars.

At one point Legget attends a lecture, given by an astral philosopher on the subject of reincarnation, which he, Legget, remembers verbatim.

The book is one of the best exposes of life on the astral plane that I've read - including that of the legendary Leadbeater who limits himself to a technical description - in that it paints a picture of what one can reasonably expect to experience after the compulsory clog-pop, and that work, leisure and learning can be enjoyed on other planes than the physical.

Perhaps we could have a collective think-in (a book review discussion forum?) about some of the contents of this book, and post questions and ideas. For instance:

(1) Was it Legget's etheric body that was attached to his corpse, and if so, when did he enter the astral plane?

(2) What was the significance of the colour of Legget's new suit that so pleased Chan?

(3) What are we to make of the distinction, drawn by Chan, between reincarnation and incarnation wrt the fate of the perpetrators of crimes against humanity?

(4) The astral philosopher stated that all reincarnation is within each plane, and not from plane to plane... . Any takers?

Finally, my thanks to Steven Turoff for making time in his busy schedule to bring this remarkable story before the general public.

Good OBEing.

Hey amcturbo,
Let us know how you go with 'photoreading' once you've learnt it, ie. if it works as well as it's portrayed on the website.
It sounds like a very cool concept. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

I recommend "New Age Hypnosis" by Dr. Goldberg.

I was amazed at how the first exercise in the book instantly put me to sleep.  My mind was too tired to keep awake when I tried it.  But it involved going down 5 levels of a department store to ground level.  When you get there, you decide to stay in, while the rest of the passengers get out.  You descend into the basement... A moment after I said that, that was the last I remember before waking up (with a handful of dreams as usual).

But, this is 1 of I've estimated 20-50 exercises to record and try.  Some to even make future life progressions.  Once I get some recorded on tape or CD, they will work even better I hope.  (I've been reciting them in my head.)

one more paulo coelho recommendation....
I just bought "Manual of the warrior of the light"

Its a collection of "daily thoughts" if you like....on direction in life. It makes some reference to channeling, angels, reason for being...etc...etc. interesting stuff, and like all his books, very easy to read.

I´ve said it before, Dan Millman´s two Peaceful Warrior books (start with the first one, or else you´ll miss something) is the best two books I´ve read...  a Must-Read !!

Astral Dynamics I don´t have to mention but I do it anyway, great!

Seven spiritual laws of success (life) by Deepak Chopra is absolutely worth reading as well...

Starbrow from danish authour Tim Ray is an exciting fiction adventure, perhaps primarily for the slightly younger generation, fans of star wars, lord of the rings etc. etc.

Hi everyone!

Every now and then folks (myself included) mention books that we've read (or are reading) that have shaped our ideas about the metaphysical.  So, I'm thinking, let's list them here so that we all don't have to go stabbing in the dark for good reading material!  Let's begin with the obvious:

Astral Dynamics
Psychic Self Defense (both by Robert Bruce)

Journeys Out of the Body
Far Journeys
Ultimate Journey (all by Robert A. Monroe)

I'm partial to the books written by Carlos Castenada, as well as those written by two of his female students, Florinda Donner and Taisha Abelar.

I learned a lot from Godwin's book, The Lucid Dreamer

OK, anyone want to add to this list?  http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_shy.gif" border=0>   Or here is an idea . . . does anyone want to start a list of Books To Avoid?  It could save us a lot of money and time!
