The USA won't even switch to the metric system and you expect it to change calendars? lol [:P]
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

it is the same.

the only problem with it is that the vatican would have a sh*tfit cuz it conflicts with the calculation of easter.  Easter's easy, find the first full moon after the vernal equinox, and it's the sunday after the full moon, unless the full moon falls on a sunday, then it is the next sunday.  The only other issue is that sometimes Gregorian sunday would not mach the 13 moon sunday, which is also why the vatican prolly shot it down.

What do people think about alternate calendars?

Aside from your typical Gregorian, Julian, Hebrew, and MJD calendars

I just found out about the 13/28 (13 Moon/Month) calendar, and it seems pretty useful.  The only downside with it in NA is that you would continually need to rely on the Gregorian calendar to calculate Christian holidays on the 13/28 calendar (Christmas would be the same day of the week every year)

What's nice about it is that it is 13 months broken up in to 28 days.  13x28 is 364, so you have one day that is not in any month or week.  It also starts when Sirius rises with the sun, July 26th (like most historical calendars.  7/26-7/24 plus 7/25 equals 365

The biggest thing about it is it's basis is on the Mayan system.  I can't explain alot about it but the site that explains it the best is www.tortuga.com

Apparently, there are some countries that use this calendar, including Brazil and Japan.  And interesting enough, this organization wants the calendar in place by 7/26/04, or the start of the next year in the 13/28 calendar.  They say that the current calendarial system is artificial and arbitrary (which I believe it is, I mean come on, 30 days hath November, September, June, and April.  31 the rest of the months, exept February which can have either 28 or 29 days?  I like the fact that it is calibrated for the seasons and Christian holidays, but some things don't really add up. We don't have a solar period of 366 days, it is 365.2422 days, not really a 1/4 day.  And the day, is not 24h but 23h 56m)and that the 13:20 cycle is more in tune with the natural cycle.  I guess they really lean towards the fulfillment of 12/21/12 if we do not start accepting the 13:20 cycle.  THey say if we do accept 13:20 over 12:60, it will make our enlightenment easier.

I dunno, alot of things are possible, but who knows.  I would love to have even months, and two days off of work for the new year including national holidays, but it would be difficult as the aggregate to switch from a widely accepted calendar in which an entire civilization uses to run their lives to one in which is easier to calculate what day falls when, and gives you a freebie day to remember the year and celebrate.
