(sorry for the spelling and grammar, but english is not my native language)
I think that it's not true. I have a friend that doesn't believe in OOBE/existence of energy body and all other paranormal things. He is very intellignet person, but i think he's afraid of loosing his reputation by believing into such things. One time he told me that he believes only into things that are scientifically proven. I've asked him why does he believe in god. He did not answer.
I know, they are a frustrating bunch to work with. Though I must admit, the look on their faces when you prove them wrong is very satisfying. I remember back when I first started getting into everything, I was with two of my friends, and one challenged me to guess numbers that he was thinking of. I got the first one dead on, then I think he tried to mess me up by thinking of two numbers at the same time. I said to him, "not sure, its either 6 or 8," and he's like WOAH I thought of 8 at first but then changed it to 6. I don't mean to brag, but it's kind of like an "I told you so" feeling.
Everybody is conditioned in one way or another from their birth. They are told what is what according their parents, first an foremost, and then the community/society they live in. No matter what culture a person is born into, they are conditioned.
In the case of metaphysics, it all depends on the individual's ability to break through their conditioning (unless of course they are born into a culture/family where the metaphysical is embraced). Some people can do it, others can't let go, they are not ready to. Maybe they still have important physical lessons to learn before they can consider the non-physical.
I don't think it's a case of being stupid at all. Simply that some are just not ready to delve into the whole new world that is the non-physical.
Well, those unintelligable types are not skeptics. I call them cynics, though that might not be the right word either.
Basically, these people believe that everything in the universe is ordained by science, and science alone. And if science hasn't proved it, then it either does not exist or it is on another planet in some distant galaxy. They are a typical type of human being that simply exists because their parents and their peers and society itself cannot come to grips with the fact that their beloved science doesn't know everything.
Those who seek the truth through knowledge and education only get further and further away from it.
A true skeptic is somebody who looks at a website like astralpulse.com or psipog.net and thinks "hmmm...interesting" and gets back to some whacky experiment he/she is doing. Okay, maybe not that last part, but a true skeptic would weight out whether something is real or not, without biased opinion. Now many of this common breed of human believe that they DO in fact, weigh out whether the paranormal is good or not, without bias. But the truth is, they have so much of a biased opinion it isn't funny. Instead of looking for answers, they look for something to disprove the paranormal.
Take for example, evolution theory as a way to "debunk" God. God is a theory, just like everything else. It hasn't been proven, and neither has evolution (in my eyes at least). But these people go around presuming that evolution is 100% true, that God has nothing to do with anything, and that is their reason for not believing in the paranormal.
To all the so-called skeptics out there, I say just one thing. You cannot prove that you yourself are even real. You cannot prove or disprove that you are not a figment of my imagination, or that I'm a figment of yours. So, if you cannot prove or disprove that you yourself are real, you cannot prove or disprove that reality itself is real. Therefore, you cannot prove or disprove that science is real, and thus, once again, you cannot prove or disprove that the paranormal is real. And presuming science itself, and you yourself, are "real," you can't even begin to say that science knows everything, unless you want to make yourself look like an idiot to everybody who has put thought into these matters. Science does not know everything. Deal with it.

you are your nose.
why wont a skeptic belive in something.. well i think i got the answer now
b'cuz the truth is too much to understand (for them)
am i right or what ?
thos who dont belive paranormal things are just (sorry) too stupid.
its just like. if talk to a human who cant calculate that 5+5=10 then they say that its wrong. but is it ?
thing is that they dont understand they dont think that every single thing can not be proved and/or explained.
but still its cool that we humans dont understand everything and know everything.
think if we knew everything of everything would it be fun to live ?
oki we all are skeptics and stupid... thats why we live. to learn and discover.
we cant force ppl to belive in paranormality but is it too hard to belive ? or really too hard to understand the truth ?
we could change world to a much better place if we only could accept things/stuff around us. things that wasnt ment to be understand and/or explaine/proved.
anyhow ive no idea where im trying to go with this post :P lol
i just felt for writing a little.
and yeah... hope that nobody felt that i stepped on his/hers toes :)
take care
