Logic

I fail to see what this has to do with control.
We are not truly lost, until we lose ourselves.

Hey logic...did you use your logic? And what I did was give you some factors involved that influence states...so you could control these factors and therefore control your state.  Such as choosing what foods to eat that will make you feel really good.

I know I mentioned using carriage returns to start new paragraphs in Squeeks recent post, but having one after each sentence?  Um....I don't mean to sound like a stickler, but what is the point of writing that way?

Seriously, Arie, could you explain this one to me?  Would you say that each individual sentence is a point that you're trying to emphasize?  Or this this just a style of writing that you feel comfortable with?  I'd really like to know.

Hmmm.......what exactly is a carriage return? But anyways......If you want me to try to write in a more condensed fashion....i can do that.
But jeff...next time...you could add some insightful comments on WHAT i spent my time writing after or before your criticism on HOW i write...i mean c'mon....sheesh.....

I think that's cool though that your at least trying to understand why  i write the way i do instead of just trying to flame me. Later

Carriage return is geek speak for the "enter key."

You can write in whatever way you please.

I just wondered if there was a point to writing each sentence on a new line.

As you can see, it stretches out the length of the post.

See?

Which can be really annoying to some people.

I may be one of them.

But seriously, you get the point of my original post.

I would've commented on WHAT you wrote about if I could understand it.  It made about as much sense to me as a nun in a whorehouse.  However, I don't fault you for not getting your point across to me.  My IQ seems to dip and shrink as the day goes on.

Well, as I mentioned, I was trying to keep an open mind and not come off as an a$$hole.  I'm glad you were able to see that.

My definition of state is how you feel and perceive the world at any given moment.

There are many factors that play into this.

One is your diet. If you eat greasy cheeseburgers, beer, and fries for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...you will feel differently than if you eat some veggies and fruits and water for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

No doubt about that.

Thats one factor.

Another factor is breathing.

If you consistently breathe high up in your chest with short rapid breaths you will feel differently than if you take long, slow, deep breaths into your diaphragm...which is called belly breathing.

Another factor is your inner and outer tonality.

If you sound like a rackety radio gone haywire...you will feel differently that if you sound like James Earl Jones.

Tonality is crucial.

As well as inner tonality. By this i mean the tonality of your inner voice in your mind.

Try making funny sounds in your mind and see if you feel differently.

I just did it and i do.

Another factor for state control is your frame of mind.

By frame of mind...I basically mean....how you look at something.

One frame of mind you could use for life....is that life is war.

Now you will feel differently if you sincerely use that metaphor than if you use the metaphor life is a game.

Don't ya think?

So...let me give you an another example for frame of mind.

You could look at reading this as a way to gain knowledge and learn....or you could look at reading this as "killing time"

See the difference?

Okay...enough of that.

Time.

How you perceive time influences your state.

Being in a rush will definitely make you feel differently that being patient and relaxed.

There's a teaching in the 48 laws of power by Robert Greene that act as if everything will eventually come to you....in other words be patient.

I believe that is very true....when you act in a rush you do lose some personal power. true?

Another factor....physiology...by physiology...i basically mean the condition of your body.

So if your body is tense and your shoulders are droopy that will definitely make you feel different that if your nice and relaxed with your shoulders back and a smile on your face.

Mental imagery

The pictures you imagine in your mind can also affect your state.
If you imagine yourself in a coffin before that office meeting...you would feel much differently than if you imagine everyone greeting you warmly and saying how wonderful you look.

right?

Physical exercise...this ties in with physiology...but i'll expand on it.

If you never walk but sit on the couch all day you will feel differently than if you lift weights and jog everyday.

no?

Sleep.

How much you sleep will also affect your state.  Too much, and you'll probably feel really tired. Too little...same thing.  My sleeping patterns lately have been really crazy.
