There was a village inhabited by a reptile looking creatures. They weren't capable of producing their own life energy, that's why they were feeding off of the river of a vibrant energy flowing nearby.

Once a day they were all going to a river. Adult male reptiles and their children. A little reptile boy once started hearing the indistinct sounds of human suffering coming from the river energy stream. First their were very quite, but as the days went by the sounds of suffering became louder. One day, after pondering, he decided to ask his mother about it. "'You're a reptile'', - she replied you're supposed to feed on that energy.
A little boy has decided try not to pay attention to it, however with every time the sounds of suffering became more clear and loud.

Finally it has become inbearable for him to feed off the river. Every day he was making an excuse to go to a different place up the river stream. He would hide in the forest on the river bank and wait for a while to come back home. Soon he realised that being abstinent from the energy made his body go through a terrible withdrawal symptoms. But he has firmly decided to become independant from the energy and being able to live on his own.
At first he thought it was impossible because of his nature and he will going to die, however gradually the terrble spasms started to release his body.

One day the village dwellers started to notice that the vibrant energy started turning dark. As the stream became darker, the flowing energy started to look more like a viscid tar. It became toxic for the inhabitants. The male reptiles one by one started to go into a frenzy because of the abstinace symptoms. Foaming on the mouth they killed off their families and turned on each other. Soon a few male reptiles that have left have died convulsing on the village streets. The only one left alive was a little reptile boy.
