i'd just quickly like to share a few of my methods of moving around in the astral.

to start with, i'm a gamer so i've taken a lot of "hands on" skills/abilities from that media to the astral. i'd even go as far as to suggest that video games are a great place to learn some neat tricks for astral travel. in video games, you can do anything, with the necessary coding. same goes for the astral, but instead of coding, you have intent and belief, positive affirmations etc. that is the view i've adopted anyway, and it has proved handy on more than one occasion. don't think you have to have actually played said video game either. just imagine how something might work in a game, then just do it.

translocation:
imagine a game where you can teleport. you, and only you, can see a ghost like figure of yourself where you can to teleport to (like the Heads Up Display), and you can move that figure using the controls, then all it takes is a press of a button and you're there. i don't like to go into things too deeply as i think that ultimately, being too specific will detract from your experience, but; in the astral, move that figure with your intentions, and simply press go. be creative too, perhaps it's the blink of an eye, a trail of smoke, whatever, you just cross that space. also, see the figure of yourself in the same pose as you wish to land, make it as real as possible. i call this blinking

intention:
same as a video game, i've sometimes gone in with objectives or experiments to try while i'm out of body. i sometimes imagine a journal or notebook with my intentions in it while i'm meditating, and i've found pulling it out can be a great way to almost stop and focus for a moment. simply knowing it's there, even if you don't meditate on it at all, can be a great way to find yourself trying new things which were subconsciously written in the book. you can have anything written in the book.

now try mixing it up. if you want to see someone or someplace specifically, have a picture in your notebook, and project yourself into that. jump/fly as high as you wish then blink to the horizon, or even the sky above the horizon, then flash your bits around the world, whatever. just remember to feel it, make it as real as possible.

hopefully this video game approach has given you something about at least. you can do anything out there, believe in yourself and know you can.
this is just the beginning of it too. i use this train of thought to be a shapeshifter of sorts. i've even been in the astral from a third person perspective, and, thanks to video games, it felt surprisingly natural, though i suppose that is the nature of the astral too.

let your imagination be free and you will do great things.

haha nice. that must be interesting having that sort of HUD permanently.. i might have to craft myself an eye piece or something just to give it a go.
out there i tend to steer away from the digital, but i do use a targeting system for slaying orks and what not..
