Is there any equipment for paintball that makes it so u dont get hurt or welts? I thought about getting paintball stuff, but i didnt want to have welts for months. I usauly like to play hockey, but i would like to look at some other things. How many are on a team in paintball? For good padding how much is it going to cost? Im paranoid about my eyes so how much for a great mask?
How much for a good gun and how much should it cost all together?

Every man has their fear of dieing, whether it be of pain or not knowing where you are going, however, mine is the family, memories, and good times i leave behind.

G,day guys

Yes, I must admit, I used to be right into what you guys call "paintball", here in Australia it's called "Skirmish" mainly, but it's also called "Paintball" sometimes. I used to shoot real rifles, .303's  .308's & .22's,but mainly at targets & was invited to go to a day of Skirmish about 12 years ago & didn't think it would be that exciting. But after 5 mins of playing the game I was an addict & played it at least once a month for a few years, pretty much up until 1998, where I had to give it up due to an accident.

The adrenalin rush far surpassed any real shooting I had done, as it was a game of hide & seek, ambush, tactics, etc with a fair bit of ouch factor, but no-one gets hurt, twas just great. It really brought home the idea of what it would be like to be in real war, with real bullets flying through the air. But it's all there for you to experience, the fear, the anxiousness, the feeling of being hunted down, the joys of victory's, the pride of being able to bluff your enemy when you really have nothing but words after ammo runs out.

I could not imagine what war would be like, or a real firefight & I don't want to after hearing the silence broken by 10 or so automatic paintball guns. It's earie to hear a post ahead of you manned with your team mates suddenly go silent after a hail of automatic fire & knowing their coming for you next.

When I first started there were only bolt action guns, then came the pump's & both could only hold about 10 rounds, which made reloading under fire all the more exciting. Soon came the automatic's & 100 round ammo chambers, awesome. I would book a day & get about 20 or so friends to come. Some female, but mostly male & the females could wear body armour that they supplied, like a motorcross chestplate. For about $70 Au, you would get a pump action gun, a camo body suit, a full fask mask (the only downer, as after 10 mins, you are so hot from running that the lens fogs up) & about 200 rounds.

We would have capture the flag games, seek & destroy games, forts, indoor ones, terminator game (where only 1 person has a gun & each person shot by the terminator, becomes one & joins the hunt), open field games (no cover).

The shots sting, especially ones on the lips as the first poster said, ouch! & the ears, but it's all worth it & I'm glad I didn't join the army, big ouch!

Good journeys

Yes I absoulutly have to agree that Skirmish is the most exciting game around. In Austrailia you need a shooters licence to own a paintball gun (they are in the same category as a .22!) Ive got the licence because Im into target shooting but I dont have the $ to take it up. I dont know how much it costs in the USA but over here the equipment is just so expensive, I can spend a day on the range with my centerfires and spend half as much! (but since I got a .308 there is about the same amount of brusing http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_blackeye.gif" border=0> hehe). Maybe once I graduate and get my job as a paramedic (fingers crossed!) Ill have the money to buy the gear and join a team.

G,day Fenris

Yes, gotta agree with ya there, to actually buy the guns & the gear to go with it is very expensive. I never actually owned any of the gear myself, I always hired it, as it was not my primary past time, music was/is, which continues to eat my wallet just nicely.

It was great to get out there & blast your mate who you thought was being a smart arse/butt lately,or the girls would get theirs on the guys or mowing down some rambo type. It was abit of a hard fast lesson actually, that people like Rambo would never exist in real life, as they would look like a sieve after 5 mins. People who were over confident beginners & thought raw courage was enough to win a fight, found out that standing in the open equalled lots of little ouches!

Fenris I gather being over the north side you would have played at Samford? I used to play mainly at Browns Plains, Calamvale & Inala, twas all in good fun,to be sure, to be sure.

Good journeys all

can we do it so it dosent hurt? sure. the guns I have, have a knob that adjusts the speed of the balls. my group is just hurtful becouse we all agree to be. a coat is like a flak jaket ... if you want to wear a coat in the heat of the day.  you can always make your own rules like "one hit your out" or one head shot your out" , I like the "your not dead untill you cant take the pain" rule.  my people sometimes shoot under a flag of truce, or before everyone elese is ready, thats why everyone elese uses the equment as powerful as they can get it, we try to kill each other ( inflict extream amounts of pain).
you can get the guns to the point where a face shot wont even phase you.
its all up to how you want to play.  it costs a lot of money (we have spent over a thousand for guns alone, the paint costs about $26 a box , (500 shot)a box fills up about two people. everyone refills time after time.
a ton of money, a shitload of pain, and an awsome amount of fun.
...you ever jump up on three people, and take them all down?( in a game) thats fun.   I love my gun, its an old stingray. we (me & my gun) are able to shoot about 30 feet futher than the other, newer gunes (the eradicators)
the 12 oz  CO2s rock! and I have shotgun ammo belts to hold the 9 gram co2s , for the little guns, it looks cool.

Mobius

It's been a while since I played the game 1998 & we used to re-gas the guns every time a game was finished from a huge Co2 bottle about 4 foot tall, which every one used. You say you carried your own small bottles? How did you re-gas them?

Fenris, my shoulder still has nightmares thinking about shooting .303's & .308's, in the end I had to have heaps of pads on my shoulder to help compensate the recoil.

Good journeys guys

Hi Mobius!

I used to play at Brownsplains because it was about 10mins from my home, but they closed down about 3 years or so ago. Now I play (but not often) at a place called NPF (national piantball fields) in Blacksoil near ipswich, its fantastic there, they have some awsome fields. My social club at work was talking about going some time in the future and anyone is invited, if it goes ahead Ill be sure to send you a personal message just in case you feel like going!

best regards and good luck with exams!

G,day Fenris

Yes, do give me a message if & when you plan on doing it again, as you never know I might be up to it by then & I can rack up at least 10 to 15 people to go as well.

I know the Browns plains one you mean that shut down, it was off Johnson rd. It was our favourite because of the indoor game he had there, twas awesome. The guy who ran that one Dave, moved it down onto Beaudesert rd, Browns plains, which wasn't as good, but still fun.

Havn't played out Ipswich before, I might have to have a drive & take a look. Have you seen the place where the A graders play at the back of the war museum at Musswellbrook? Everyone has auto's, grenades, claymores, & they use bunkers, pillboxes, snipers nests, underground tunnels, old jeeps & stuff, very kewl.

Arrgggh! don't remind me of my exams, I did one last week which I only just scraped in & have two 2000 word essay's due next week, nooooooooooo!! Cmon November, pleeease!

Good journeys mate

you want a real fun game? its not for ps2 or x-box.
its real life paintball. real pain, real defeat, and really sweet victory.
anyone here play paint ball?  I'v been covered in wealts for a month (I play ever weekend) and have never had so much fun in my life (besides astral projection). the other day, I "killed" one man, capured another, and singlehandedly (my partner was "dead") took down the rest of the other team. you dont know what you got untill you take a hostage, while haveing no ammo, take his ammo, and defeat his team with his stuff.  fun, fun,a little pain and more fun.  I started with a bunch of pump guns, but now we play with some excessively powerful equment. someone is gonna bleed when we play. I play untill everyone, one by one , gives up for lack of ammo,
they know they cant win, or their on the groung in a painful daze.
some people dont see the logic of playing  with guns that can bust your skin open, but if we dont people dont play to the best of their ability.
the last round of the last game I played, it came down to me and my cousion, we both have 4 or 5 years experence playing, the most of any in my group.
our guns will hurt enough to make you give up at 20 yards. we were in a feild, and one of us broke to the car. the last few shoots took place at the car, me and him about four feet away. both weilding auto guns. He shot me in my face, my head was ringing , and I shot him back. Mind you we were using the car for cover as well. I poped him in the lip. He was out, I was driping blood and paint from my face.  he was on the ground in intense pain for two munites, I was laughing becouse of the fun we had. his face looked like he had a stroke, half his mouth was paralized and lip swolen about three inches ( we didnt have masks on, just the glasses.the third guy's car was covered in paint, all over. we play with more people, but a few had to leave early (they got hurt).  its kinda pricy to play ( 5-8 cents a shot after you get the guns, masks, extra equment and gas for the guns) the guns and masks cost from $60 to hundreds and hundreds. I drop a couple of hundred bucks a time, at least. you shoot thousands of shots, so it does add up. I play with skill, experence, and I can "remote view" so I know where there at. being psychic in a situation like a gun fight doesgive you an edge. it was the couse of me wining one of the rounds we played. I have got some bad wounds, but I hurt everyone more than I get hurt, so I win.
I dont play at paint ball places eather, I go to the woods around my city.
dont go to parks, you can get fined, your weapons taken, or worse yet ,hurt some little kid.    always wear at least glasses, masks if you can. dont take your mask of in a game - EVER .

...anyone in the Rockford Illinois / south wissconsion area wana fight my team?  we can do pumps or autos.

its more fun than  a gun fight in a lucid dream, I'll tell you that.
